I own a PS3 and a PC and i'm actually very happy with the PS3. I watch all my movies and DVD's on it. It has some great games, can stream music and movies from my desktop. I like it a lot and very happy i bought it.

Judging from how PC gaming is today (bugs, waiting for patches, malware copy protections like StarForce) I'dsay it's the other way around.
Patches are nothing new to PC gaming but they are certainly new to console gaming. In the past the console games had to make damn sure there weren't any game breaking bugs in them as they couldn't patch them. Now that patching is possible the console developers are even more lazy. So it looks like your in the same boat
As for malware copy protections I would call Xbox Live just as bad if not worse. The thing detects if you have mod it and bans you if you have. Also improperly cracked games can get you banned off of live too. I don't see any PC games that ban you off of ALL online activities.
All consoles have done within recent history (actually starting with the Saturn and not the Xbox or Dreamcast like many think) is become more and more like a PC. The problem is for the console company's is that the PC advances literally every few months and by the time the consoles hit the shelves they can't even compare to the new PC hardware. Also like in sony's case they tried to go to the extreme and even make it a multi media center and tried their damnedest to pimp out the specs of the console and its become a epic failure.

I think they built this shit for like 2012 or something , HD DVD is fairly enough for any game for few more years

I think PC gaming is in the shitter because of this sick hardware politics. I have bought some time ago mainboard with future support for dualcore AMD's, BUT they have changed sockets so I have to buy mainboard again, because they are cheating. So for new CPU I need new mainboard, and new graphics card that will cope with new CPU... They simply force us to buy completly new PC, not upgrade them...
