Basically i want to calibrate my cute surround system Smile.
Im pretty sure, that some of the highs are too loud, some of the low mids arent loud enough and i've got a subwoofer that needs to have the right volume as well Razz
I tried comparing them with speakers from Elac, but i cant seem to get it right...

Do you have any tips on how to do that?
I thought a hardware spectrum analyzer would help, but i assume such a thing of adequate quality, needs to range from ~35Hz to ~18KHz after all, would cost me a fortune. Just guessing though lol
Instead of that, i thought, a simple peak meter might do the trick. I just let a Frequency Gen run up & down, measure and draw a curve myself Razz. Of course than i would need to find out how that curve is supposed to look like. Thats a different matter though.

What do you think about it? I'd appreciate help Smile or encouraging words Laughing

play around with it. why not just put on something (like a movie with a good 5.1 DTS track) and then adjust to your liking.

I am playing around with it and sometimes it does sound nice, but i dont want to adjust it to my liking, but to how it should sound.
Anyway, dont want to rely on my ears, but on facts Wink

what is more important, that you like how it sounds or that it sounds 'correct', whatever the hell 'correct' means Wink

facts are not important when it comes to personal taste and enjoyment. same with brightness/contrast/color saturation/etc on the visual side. all the guides on how to put the settings are shit because it all comes down to what seems best to you. sit there, put something and listen till you find best settings.

Personal Taste has nothing to do with it for me.
If i see a blue sky in my show, im happy if it looks like the blue sky outside the window.

And for music, every instruments sounds a particular way in reality. Should my speakers output frequencies differently it doesnt sound like that instrument any more. I want drums to sound like drums.

now that I finally have a 5.1 setup I've been looking for good stuff to test with. Unfortunately the only Stealth release I can find atm is Stealth.2005.BluRay.1080p.DTS.x264.dxva-EuReKA ... wondering if 13.1GB is worth it for a good sounding turd of a movie Razz

Animusic is a little bit smaller, but the download was incredibly slow Razz
Seirei no Moribito (anime obviously) was released in HD and surround sound, you could try. And a fast download exists ^^
The A-Kraze is pretty good
