Hello,

We cleaned the lens of the DVD-Rom..
We did it be4 and it worked correctly again and we did it on the same method as the last one.

Now it has problems to read, It will read.. Black screen etc.. Then "Disc is not readable".

With UEFA Euro 2006 (original) it will work correctly and a burned FightNightRound 3 will work correctly too.

But other games that worked before, It just starts up (sometimes the copyrights of the game) and then it just turned back to the dashboard and leaving a message, that the disc is not readable.


Now I'm asking for any suggestions that I can do.

Tweak the pot, on samsungs and hitachi it's a piece of cake, google. At the end of the day if it don't work you'll have to buy a new laser, which is the next option anyway. So even if you don't have a multimeter, give the adjuster screw a small tweak (@ 5 mins on a clockface) clockwise.

I was getting a ticking/rattling sound when booting from mine and half my discs would struggle to get started, only booting in about @ 1 out of ten attempts... tweaked the pot and it's been smooth since.

I tried it, But its definitely broken (the laser), It's still not working.. Now I don't hear the spinning anymore and after 15 sec "Open Tray" (DVD in the drive).

So if anyone know's a good source for a whole new dvd-drive, It would be great Smile

Why not just the laser? Because I don't like components to build in a dvd drive.. When i've got a new dvd-drive , I can just firmware it again and done Wink

So does anyone have a good source for a new dvd-drive? (And can I use a BenQ? I'm now using a Samsung)

u can use any drive that is flashable, but changing laser lens isn't that hard plus it's much cheaper

What do you understand under "Much cheaper"?

And if it is, I hear people getting it from china and shizzle.
I really wanna know then where to order Smile

Quite old, But it workED perfect.
The lens is just broken, Thats for sure. haha.

Is this a site where I can order (Is that site safe?), And does this one fits on my version of DVD-Rom?

Thats all I have to know, I'm now going to bed, When its safe and when this one fits, I will order it right away after sleeping with fastest shipping (20 dollars inclusive lens, So what, Much cheaper than a whole new drive! ^_^)
