Jesus fuckin Christ! For those of who you have been around here a long time, you know I dont sleep all that well. Sometimes I go days without sleeping. So when I am able to sleep, I like to sleep as much as possible. Anyway, I fell asleep around 3am today (its now 5:30am) and at 5am the phone starts ringing. So I assume something bad has happened as there are a few things going on in my family.
Anyway, there is what i hear
"Hello Mr.SycoShaman (they used my real name of course), you've been selected to be involved in trials for an experimental drug that might end up being the cure for cancer. All you have to do is give us your full name, birthday, social insurance number, credit card number and an investment of 5K. At the end of the trials, you will receive your 5k back along with an additional 10K"
Then I said
"Are you fuckin serious? First of all, your calling me at 5 in the morning wanting me to give you money. Secondly, pharamceutical comapnies dont find test subjects this way, thirdly, they dont ask for any investment from the person being experimented on. So, Im going to be calling my local police station after I hang and inform them that someone is trying to run a scam in this are as your number is local...which either means your acting locally or you hijacking a number which is also illegal. Now fuck off"
As I hung up I hear "no sir dont call the..." and then I hung up.
lol I didnt call the cops or anything, I just say that to frighten them. But seriously, even if its legit, there must be a law regarding telemarketing workers calling you at 5am...like fuck.
Now Im up and cant get back to sleep.
I hope the bastard dies a slow horrible, sleep deprived death!
That never happened to me, but I gut woke up in 6 am by some dude who came to read the status of our water in shaft. It almost gave me heart attack, and by the time I got up he had already jumped over our fence and read the stats himself.
First I thought: hey you can't enter in my back yard without police, and if you jumped over and did all by yourself DID YOU HAVE TO WAKE ME UP??!! I got out and wanted to shove this metal pole which he had by himself right up his ass.
He was like: I'm reading your water... NO SHIT CAPITAN OBVIOUS! I yelled at him, and he jumped out and went on his way... I don't remember when did they come to read the stats next time I guess they just jump over.
Maybe the idiots who called you won't do it anymore because of what you said... You just have to give them proper scare...

I heard there is a box you can buy that stops the calls. I thought about getting it, I just answer the phone and say I am the babysitter if it comes up as "out of area" and I am not sure. I have call display so I know how to aviod those numbers. I haven't had any super early calls or late night calls tho.

I can understand it if you dont have a mobile... But with flatrate on the mobile, why have a home phone?!?
Because it is a home phone with multi lines in each room. For me, I don't want to have to find or locate my mobile if something happens. You want to know where the phones are located on emerg in your own house.
Esp if you have kids you need a home line I think. At least you can control it. You are able to somewhat control the people they are talking too at young ages. That is better done in the family home.

Lucky for me I am on the do not call list which protects me from such calls. I really think you guys should adopt such a law. I never ever get a telemarketers call anymore.

yeah, exactly. I rarely respond to msg's people leave on my cell phone unless Im expecting a msg from someone or for someone new to call me (like say a woman I just met).
I dont like giving out my home phone number to people I just meet, thats why i have a cell phone and for the obvious reasons like being out of the house and needing a phone you know?

I knew the list was coming in at some point. I actually called my phone company to complain because I was getting a voice recording. Really pissed me off because they meant that someone wasn't even getting paid at the other end. There were leaving these long recorded messages and they were taking up my answering machine space.
I don't know too much about the list so let me know what you get. I goggled it but haven't read all of it yet.
