Hi all Smile

I'm hopefully off on holiday next Tuesday but just remembered about my passport expiry date.
It expires on the 8th of September this year but I've been told that the passport has to have at least 3 months or more left on the passport before you go on you're hols?
Is this true?
I'm in the uk btw.

That is generally true whereever you go, but you've got time to sort the problem.

You have two options; one you can just fasttrack it by paying more - this will be fine time scale wise. Secondly, you can physically go into London (if you live in or nearby), queue and get it done on the spot- its a LONG day though as theres alot of queuing!

Google will give you more deets Smile

As long as you return before your passport expires, a lot of countries will allow you to holiday there. For example, if you are travelling to Spain, the word from their foreign office is that as long as you return to your country before your passport expires, then you are ok.

Also, if you want to renew your passport there are a lot of passport offices throughout the country (usually one in every city) that you can call up the hotline and make an appointment for. This was trialled at the Pterborough office a few years back, everyone in the country had to go to Peterborough and queue for however long it took. They increased the number of offices and now there is an appointment system. They will often check various offices that you can get to by train quite quickly. For example, I live in Nottingham and my sister called them up and they checked Nottingham, Sheffield and Loughborough for a suitable appointment.

What I will say though, is that the Passport Office are usually very very good. They do pretty much everything within their power to get your passport back to you before your holiday. It may cost you a little extra, but you can pay for special delivery (guaranteed next day before 1pm) to get your passport to you on the double.

I'd say give them a call and they will give you the answers.
