FUCK new tech.….

it’s been bugging me that I have so many issues with my gear. First my pc won’t work with my 37” BenQ HDTV through dual link DVI-DVI, only on component cabling for some reason, it worked fine for a whole year with no issues, even though the damn nvidia software detects the monitor when running dual monitor setup ( which leads me to think that the TV is fine), but the TV will only show black screen.

I have my brothers PC (P4) setting here cause the damn CPU overheats no matter how many times I apply the damn Arctic silver shit, I’ve applied that shit to at least 10 PC + 6 laptops with no issues; I’ve replaced the HS+FAN with a different one, but still CPU temp. will go anywhere 52C-75C. Some people might say it’s OK, but I fucking hate it when it reaches 70+C while burning an mp3 cd, damn it. Yes there’s an 80mm fan blowing air in+ a couple of 80mm fans blowing air out.

Gaming?? WTF is wrong with pc games devs. I like FPS+ driving +Futball games, CoD4? You gotta be kidding me, right? Gun handling in this game is a joke, gun shots sound like plastic cracking, sniper rifle is SO accurate in this game it’s not fun to snipe anymore! I just installed ArmA the other day, 2 year old game still has tons of bugs and crap. My pc which is not that great, but still; can’t handle that crap?? E6750, 2gb, 8800gts 320mb.. I can ONLY run it smoothly on 800X600? I’ll take game play over gfx any day of the week, but cm’on! Someone mentioned that I should install the patches, but I checked the ArmA forums and they're FULL of people complaining about this game, Glad that I didn't buy it. Devs are so lazy these days; and game publishers whine about piracy now? Tons of GPF messages while playing Mass Effect! New PES 2008 is like FIFA crap ( no offense to fifa lovers), DiRT, NFS whatever, Grid!! Can’t they make a decent driving game like NFS porche?
I’m this close of buying a console system, but it’s so much harder nowadays to make up my mind. Should I go with PS3? XBX360? For the PS3, I can’t play copied games (yet) and it seems that it’s not gonna be possible anytime soon! I do buy games that I like, but I hate the idea of not being able to test the game first. Or should I go for an XBOX360? I think Microsoft by entering the console gaming area, they made it worse for pc gamers. Rush a crappy system, 30% failure rate, CANT install my own HDD? Fuck that!
Wow, I browse this section of the forum once a week. But, this is the first time I post here; it feels good getting this crap off my chest .

P.S. English is not my 1st language, so whatever..

360 gaming FTW atm. Just as american cars, american consoles aren't the most reliable, but when it works it absolutely pwns. The GPU in the 360 is actually pretty good. Games like Bioshock and Gears of War both runs smoothly and look awesome.

...and its the only console you can flash Very Happy

I have stepped away from piracy, and because of that, I was more inclined to buy the PS3. The upcoming game library is vastly superior to that of the 360. It is a blue ray player, which is fantastic, it has a more powerful system.

Though the 360 has recently gotten FFXIII, games like Gran Turismo, Kingdom Hearts, Killzone, God Of War, Resistence, Resident Evil, DC Universe (MMORPG, CHECK THAT OUT) among some others are all going to be out on The PS3.

Well, fewer games and not being able to play pirated games is a big minus in my book. But if you care about the inustry etc. the PS3 might be better... or can be when it gets more games. There are very few AAA PS3 exclusive games atm...

100000% +1000000xxxx agree with you. However, in the near future I feel it will be the better overall console for adult gamers.

@zolo111

I totally agree, I upgraded my gaming rig 2 years ago. Bought a new gfx card, new memory and Hdd, but after 2 years the damn machine can't even play ship simulator 2008 properly! (might be due to some bad coding in that game) but hey, i spent €300,- on that machine to make it play games on high setting, and it didn't even last 1,5 years!

So instead of more messing about on the PC i bought an xbox 360, flashed the hell out of it and playing happily ever after, with not a single spec of regret.
I bought an xbox over the ps3 because the ps3 was über expensive at the time, and because it was hackable.

My advise to you: Buy an xbox 360, flash it and keep on gaming!

I have a PC, recently got a broken xbox (just a new laser needed) and had it flashed.

Now enjoying some really great games with minimal spending, minimum fuss.

Hell, I have even quit WoW. GREAT TIMES!

in the near future when it has more games its price would've been droped down , which makes buying it now and using it as a decor by the the TV a not so smart move
unless you use blu ray movies well that's a good use for it
when it comes to games most of the big hits are atleast 1 year from now , I mean Kill Zone 2 have been delayed over and over since 2005 Sad

it seems microsoft is munching the market now , with all the hype about halo which sucks ass in my opinion and 97% of games on the market are on the 360 , most of PS3 exclusive sucked ass ( haze?? ) with a huge exception of MGS4 that was a great game , metal gear solid never sucks

but the 360 is american made which means it doesn't last long ( ring of death ) most of 360 owners have returned their 360s to MS atleast once a lot have returned it several times and when your guarantee is over you're fucked

but I guess PS3 is getting most of the big hits from this year on too , ( far cry 2 ..etc )

in my opinion 360 has always ruled since 2005 but the competition is going to start in next year , the price of the PS3 doesn't help the sales either but the blu ray is to blame

Wii imo doesn't count as a competition since it has its own unique family friendly games the war wages between Microsoft and Sony

I agree again. I think this is going to be a good year and a bit for consoles. PS3 is going to start getting some good exclusives released, unlike the past, lots of good games !

Rolling Eyes

sorry, just not impressed with the latest incarnation of the laserdisc player, nor a system where you have to buy games for @ $60-70 a pop.

but hey if you want to waste your money go ahead. maybe it can go right along with your iPod/iPhone/iJunk or whatever overpriced other crap you have.

I have a car stereo that accepts a USB key which really is much better than dealing with an external aux device (only cost ~$20 more than the same range of model without). And an non-iPod mp3 player has the same (if not better) functionality for 1/2 the price.

I veg out all the time on the couch with my 60 x360 games that cost about the same as 1 PS3 game.

So if not wasting money pointlessly on overpriced "cool" junk makes me a negative nancy, then so be it.

Tell that to the developers.

Also, it uses the Ipod direct cable. Doesn't use Aux.

The ipod nano @139 for a 4gb was the best deal I could get on any mp3 player.

PS I live in oakville

All my tech is all of quality. Just because a 3yr old nano is 'trendy' doesn't mean its a bad device.

AND westinghouse has been making electronics for like 40 years, definitely not no name, and I had one of the first 1080p 37" screens in canada Very Happy

Have you done a side by side comparison of a blu-ray title vs the AVC rip or H.264 on your HT PC with a true 1080P Native display, 50 inches or larger?

I bet you haven't, or you wouldn't be spouting these claims. Blu-rays and HD DVDs look %100 times better than any h.264 in a side by side comparison. I tested step into liquid h.264 Vs the blu-ray and its night and day. I have a Mitsubishi true Cinema Projector @ 110 inches and i will only watch h.264 or AVC rips if its animated or a comedy.

HD should not have any macro blocking and i have not seen one HTPC rip that has the bitrate needed to eliminate macro blocking in high action sequences. Also i run a Onkyo 606 with true True-HD, DTS-MA, or uncompressed PCM sound. HD is more than just video. Once you hear a good True-HD track, you will never be happy with DTS or DDEX again.
