Ive never sent an xbox in for repairs before but I have a spare console (with warranty sticker intact) with red ring of death. So I called 1-800-4MY-XBOX today and gave my address and name. The lady on the phone said I will not be receiving a box from Microsoft. Instead, I was e-mailed the UPS shipping label and I was told to print it.
Now what exactly do I do here? Just put the console in a box and attach only the label and go to a UPS center? Ive never done this before. I just figured Microsoft sends you a box with instructions on how to ship it.

Yup, you remove all accessories like the hard disk and custom faceplates and put the console in a neutral box, not the retail box. That's what i was told by MS on the phone, and how i did it.
But you can call UPS and they will pick up the package at your doorstep or any other place like work, no need for you to drive to the UPS shipping center. Took MS only five working days till i got a new/refurb console. The whole process went pretty smoothly, and if you register your console with xbox.com you can monitor the status of the case online.

I got to say that the repair on my 360 went super smooth. Filled a quick form online, got empty box withing 3 days, sent it out the next, and got a brad new box in under 2 weeks. Also got a 1 month free gold card, which btw I just gave away to some poor kid that couldn't afford it. Overall I'm satisfied and impressed, especially since we are talking about M$.

Thats strange. When it happened to me, they fedexed me a box with prepaid shipping and stuff so it didnt cost me a dime. Fuck, I didnt even have to leave my house. I got the box say on the 10th, stuck my xbox in it and did all that and the next day the fedex dude came and picked it up
