The design and atmosphere look much more inspired than the recent MI remake or the telltale episodic sequels....

More inspired? It jiust looks different. I can't speak for the Telltale episodic games, but MI Special Edition = instant classic.
It isn't hard to make just a map, the hard part is the characters and gameplay.

Upcoming PC games 2009 and onwards

I don't know... I found the remake "competent", but imho it lacked the "spark" to make it a classic... a matter of taste I guess...

I highly disagree! The guys didn't only just make a map, but they were able to catch the atmosphere from the original monkey island and create a believable 3D environment.

also the MI special edition is NOT an instant classic. MI was an instant classic, while the SE was utter shit. except for the voices, those were nice.
Rolling Eyes strange since it is EXACTLY the same game, you could even change between the two. Plus the improved graphics and voices.

I didn't like the way the remake "looked" and felt. I didn't like the art direction, the gfx were too weak/filtered, argh, it's hard to explain.

Anyway, that video amazed me, nicely done and good atmosphere !

Wow, this guy really took his time and put a lot of effort into making that... for nothing.

As for the MI games, I played ten minutes of the SE and couldn't continue, it was boring and I didn't like the drawing style and voice, seemed a bit too much aimed at kids. As for the Telltales Games though, those are awesome and I can't wait for the next one.

It looks great but could you imagine exploring that kind of territory in a Monkey Island game where everything is interactive? "hmm compair this orange with 1 million different items just on this level to get the item you want" D:

8 out of 10 dentists prefer zipfero to competing brands(fraich3 and Mutantius)!

Who cares when it's out, just a map where you can't do shit, if only you could beat up Largo.

He said it will be released via mod..

There's no way they'll make the entire game, come on !! Way too much work. Not to mention they'd need official approval and they ain't gonna get it ! Very Happy

It's just a shame the Classic Doom mod for Doom 3 died due to lack of funding, as that was quite easily one of the best made mods I'd seen in a long time --- just like this looks.

I gotta admit, this vid was extremely impressive.

I think he captured the true spirit of Monkey Island spot-on. It's hard to do because Monkey Island is so stylized. It's easy to loose the "feel" when you upgrade graphics to games like that. In my opinion that "feel" is totally in touch. Great job.

If you have watched the previous video of him that he released a few months ago, he explained his method and he needs the original 2D background art to make other places/levels.

So unless he finds online other backgrounds too, that's the only level he will do.

And then like you peoples were all like, "YOU IS TROLLIN!" and I was like "I AM NOT TROLLING!! I AM guess_who_kthxbai YOU SEE! Mm!"
