PixelJunk Eden
I realise this is old news to a lot of people but I have to agree with 4me2 in lamenting the lack of PS3 threads. I notice even with the multi-platform titles PS3 users like myself are jumping in the 360 threads and helping to continue the trend. So lets see if we can't change that!
The screenshots here really don't do the game justice for several reasons, namely; at a glance they don't make a whole lot of sense. More importantly the animated nature of the background and the way in which you interact is obviously a lot more nuanced than a simple screenshot could ever convey. You might think then that videos are a better way of demonstrating the game, and to a certain extent you'd be right but you're still likely confused at what could be so compelling about grappling from branch to branch collecting pollen and growing yet more plants to grapple from.... At least that was my initial reaction to seeing a similar thread on another forum. What's this I thought? One of those artsy-fartsy Fl0W type games in which you'll be enraptured for all of 5 minutes? Little did I know, two hours later, that I'd been consumed by Eden and it's addictive charm.
Your primary goal is in the collection of 'spectra', objects that'll enrich your home garden helping you reach the higher levels, but in order to get the spectra you have to find them, and in doing so you'll need to help seedlings grow into plants (and by way of extension, potential grappling points) by collecting as much pollen as possible and activating said seed... and so the formula goes. Your character, the grimp as it's called, navigates the world by way of a silk grappling hook - attaching itself to a branch and swinging from place to place. Whilst it's simplistic in approach, in practice you'll find it can be quite challenging, especially on the later levels where the formula is played with ( ), in fact the game is seductively simple to begin with but as you progress, and new concepts, are introduced it becomes progressively harder, more different and unique. It's certainly not the same thing over and over, they have made a concious effort to differentiate and provide enough variety.
Aside from the personal satisfaction, and rumours of something special in store for those who complete the game (something I've yet to achieve), there is an online ranking system where you can compare your scores to everyone else or specifically your friends. This adds a welcome competitive bent which is also enriched by trophy support.
I strongly urge those of you who haven't already to at least download the demo and get a taster. Okay, it's not earth shatteringly revolutionary but it's still a fantastic little game. Of course, this all belies the fact it costs a mere £5, which if you ask me is quite frankly ridiculous!*
*though I suspect, and hope, it will hook us in with addons...

I bought this when it came out after watching some videos, and it's a really fun game!
Everyone should definitely get the demo and check it out, it's awesome.

If I ever get a PS3 this will be a game that I purchase... I also really want to play Super Stardust HD.
Maybe when the PS3 has more than just these 2 arcade titles to draw me in I will pick one up.
Echochrome and LittleBigPlanet are just not enough. Come on Sony... where's all the games?!

Honestly, was that even remotely necessary? There are plenty of games out there and more in the works. If they aren't to your liking then that's just the way the cookie crumbles, indeed for many people the XBOX is saturated with low-rate PC fodder, the Wii cheap & nasty kiddie titles and the PC plagued by piracy, poor ports and hardware difficulties. The PS3 has many good games, and more in the works. Whether you like them or not is an entirely subjective argument which would veer this thread off-topic into a worthless discussion about what you like in contrast to what I like. POINTLESS. So please; keep it on topic.
