well as far as the remakes of these old school shooters, quake 4 is the only one I've enjoyed so far and that was ravensoft as well.
Epic or top of the line? no, was it fun, I thought so... *shrug* I generally hate WWII games but I can't seem to get enough of the cyborgish future WWII that wolfenstein is.

I just hope id nails it with this new engine. Recently Epics got a monopoly on that field and that is never good.

Since Return to Castle Wolfenstein was responsible for getting me into gaming in the first place, I for one am getting that WHOA feeling. I haven't been intrigued by anything since the Orange Box and Bioshock and after being totally let down by Crysis, I haven't been paying much attention to any games, really. Here's hoping that Rage and Wolfenstein will bring back my enthusiasm once again because I have a gut feeling that Fallout 3 just won't be cutting the proverbial mustard at ALL! I will be waiting as patiently as I can.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein WAS a remake already (of wolfenstein 3D , jaja) and it was awesome. Aslong as it doesn't plays like Crap .. i mean, Quake ... Wars, it can be good. ... Can ... maybe ... we will see.

anyone find any estimates on a release date? |
I'd search for you but im not wasting my time. I hate when companeis go so generic on their game name when others have been released. you have to filter through wolfenstein 3D, return to castle wolfenstein etc articles and crap before you can really find anything on....."Wolfenstein".....it's a shitty keyword.
I couldn't find a home page or anything on the pub's and dev's site about it

Uhhm, no? Wolfenstein3D had no outdoor missions, no Zombie Soldiers, completely different levels. If that qualifies as a remake, you can call Rambo 2 a remake of Rambo 1 aswell.

you weren't a big gamer in the nineties, were you?
the games have changed a lot as a medium since then
as they had since the original 2d wolfenstein
it's the same idea, reinvented
wolf3d did have zombie soldiers and dieselpunk robot armors though, while the original castle wolfenstein had neither

Ok fair point, i forgot about the Mutants. Anyway, i realize that with technology advancing games will look different. But the idea is so generic to begin with (us spy kicks nazi asses - we have seen that in like 40985498654 other games) i don't think you can use that to argue that RtCW is a *REMAKE* of Wolf3D. If it was a remake then i'd expect the same levels/story with updated gfx. And not something completely different. By your logic, Rambo 3 is a remake of Rambo 2, because it uses the same idea (dude goes to some 3rd world country and kicks evil guys asses) but executed different. Or maybe Doom3 is a remake of Doom1 ? Spear of Destiny is a remake of Wolf3D aswell? Or what about Mortyr? I mean it's a FPS, has Nazis and you gotta kill them. Must be a remake of Wolf3D!
