A drivers licence is a major milestone to adulthood. Once you have it and a car you can't ever go back Congrats.

Congrats man, and PLEASE PLEASE have respect for the machine/car and foremost the SPEED! Take it slow in the beginning and don't think you know what you are doing for at least 6 months to a year...if not more, cause YOU DON'T!. Only some friendly advice here Wink.

take it slow in the beginning... You first have to automise all your handlings before you can really drive safely. If you see a kiddo running over the street and you have to think, "brake pedal?? shifting down??" the kiddo is under your car

Shifting, steering, the pedals, should all go without thinking. Once you can do that, you have to watch watch watch.

good luck, and dont become depressed. It is one of those things you think you will never master decently, but after some time it goes ok and after some years it is good Smile

@Heirofan: don't mess with him. he doesn't know (yet) what's good or not.
dude, it feels so good to drive a car. i am taking my driving lessons this month and trust me, once you have the steering into your hands, you don't wanna let it go.
too bad for me it's the 2nd time i must take the driving school. Got only 1 advice for you: NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE. NEVER!. that's why i lost my 1st licence Sad. or was it because i was spinning over 2 continous white lines? Rolling Eyes

My advice is don't drive slow in the fast lane. Don't drive along another car on the hwy so no one can pass. On a hwy don't slow down in the curvy part of the hwy and speed up in the straight part. Don't speed up is someone is trying to pass you.

Watch out for old men in hats, they do weird things.

Cox
I find drivers are usually pretty good for the first years or so. Then they get too comfortable and take chances. My first car was a VW hippy van. I didn't have to worry about speed in that thing.

This thread is missing Deelix. He got his last year.

Its not like in Norway or Sweden Wink Its much better here imo, you either have a license or you don't. And you can start learning-driving with a "L" behind your car when you are 16 ^^

I think you need a basic traffic course now tho, but I didn't because I had license for scooter/moped. Stricter rules now :\. oh well, ill try to hold on my drivers license Very Happy

And remember female drivers are a bitch. Keep and eye out for anytime you see someone driving strangely, clueless of speed signs driving 50 km/h on a 90 road etc etc

Once saw a woman driving between two lines, the car wobbling back and forth.
And they say women are better drivers than men...

la ce circulatie ii in timisoara .. pfff
anyway you'll get used to it , the thing is to master self control , you'll know when you'd be pushing your luck in some cases
i usually cruise at about 90 to 120 in the city , even in 30 zones , depends on traffic , but i hate to disturbe traffic as in force someone to brake cause i cut them off or some shit , that's just stupid

but i just love to smack cars that blocked me while backing up with the hook , god damn mother fuckers should know how to keep a fucking distance between cars , not leave the car in a random position

I don't know how to drive a car, I don't have a car, I don't have money for a car as most of my money goes to Macs & PC hardware, software & games and a 12+ years old scotch Crying or Very sad Oh, and I need a much more powerful set of glasses in order to go to driving school Sad

BTW, Would it be just a waste of time and money to complete a driving course and hopefully pass a test for driving license, but not be driving anymore for years to come as I don't have a car ? Is driving like swimming, riding bicycle ? I mean if you managed to learn on how to do it, you would never forget it.

Dont worry driving is easy especially in the UK but 4 to 6 is a bad time you'll be stuck in a traffic jam.

The start of freedom is nigh! Smile But honestly it's probably the best thing I've done in my life is to get the full license. I've got too many friends who are late 20's early 30's that still can't drive ~ I've always wondered how the have managed for that amount of time! Smile

The UK driving test has slowly become more and more silly with ridiculous things like hazard perception tests that really don't teach you much but it's just one of those hurdles to get over. By judging your posts looks like you've got a level head so you'll pass with a relative amount of ease .

Hope it all goes well! Best of luck! Smile
