Sounds like a cello to me, could also be a violin.
You see one of the guys actually playing something that looks like a "Silent Cello"

Could also be a Silent Bass. But the pitch/sound is to high to be a base really.

Sounds like a violin but one of those electric ones like the one 'playing' and not the sci-fi one shown. The song actually opens with a cello and he even sings 'would I still be known as the fellow? rollin' with the dude with the cello'.
