"I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it.... ooOooOoOoo...." music to my ears. I'm hoping they don't fuck it up, but no point hiding my excitement at the announcement. I've lost whole nights & mornings to those games...

Excellent. Hope they can put a Victoria spin on it and put some more focus on economy management and such, not just war.

Loved HoI and HoI2. I'm sure this will be just as great (and mind boggingly complex)

hard enough to find the button to build infantry :-)

the previous 2 were awful, unrealistic and full of awful AI/exploits..I managed to make Lithuania back into an empire
(spam build militia, move policy towards a professional army,
and then research army doctrine, invade latvia/estonia/Norway/annex them then attack germany when the polish get invaded, your attack will stall the germany, the french will surround them after a while and then the polish will counter attack, this gives you lots of time to simply walts into the rhine land with your 70 division millitia army)
all of paradoxes games are really disappointing after you figure out just how broken and unbalanced they are, maybe this one will be different and will actually provide some sort of challenge.

Try doing the same with the historical amount of forces Lithuania had back then, and go with the same policies and make the same political decisoins and you'll find out the opposite.
Luckily, Hoi allows you to play (a)historically.

For what it's worth they officially point out the games aren't meant to be realistic or historically correct, and AI exploits are unfortunately a staple of games like this. That being said if you know of an exploit and you use it; shame on you. HOI is one of the best games of its kind, and I love it's focus on the war effort first and foremost. If you know of anything better; please tell.

Unrealistic and lots of AI exploits, fine( what would be the fun of choosing a country and not being able to do anything 'unrealistic' with it anyway, though? Half the fun is picking a lesser side and making it great ), but awful?

I can't wait. I get excited just looking at those screenshots I just hope their GUI now scales better with higher resolutions, just been playing some EU and it's hard work reading text at 1080p.

Mad, these screenshots gives me a raging hard-on.
Hopefully there'll be more domestic matters and issues to take care of this time, honestly, sometimes it get a bit boring to just dick around waiting for the enemy to make his move when playing Soviet, U.S or neutral.

Yep, looks awesome. Some more domestic options would be great, that's the reason I think Victoria is the best of these games.

Cant wait, although it will probably become playable after multiple patches and expansions.
Typical paradox style.

interview
http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/heartsofiron3/interview.html
Quote: | Strategy Informer: Would you ever consider making a game like this for home consoles or would you feel too restricted by the limitations this would impose?
Johan Andersson: It’s been fifteen years since I last made a console game so I don’t know exactly what the hardware limitations would be. I haven’t thought about it, but I don’t know. PC games still sell insane amounts and considering how much online distribution is increasing sales; it’s easier to continue making PC games. |
