Cool, may I ask what sort of pic you're going with? Gonna have color or black only?

I find such tattoo's look so much like shit over your arms. Too messy. Tattoos in my view should be simple, like a logo, or they look cluttered and pretty much crap.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

Cos believe me people change, and 10 years down the line you wont like your tattoo at all. |
That doesn't have to be true, as long as you take your time and get what you really want - instead of picking the first cool-looking tribal from the catalog.
I like the japanese tattoo style, most of them are just way too colorful for my tastes, I usually prefer the single-color ones.

Holy crap, how many hours/sessions and how much does that cost?

I perfer something simple too. You might like those boar tooth tattoos. Saw some of them on "TALL SHIP CHRONICLES" I googled but found no pictures. Just a simple design that is easy on the eyes. Very rare. People say they have them but they are fake.

Agree, subtlety is the key.. anything else is overkill and ever so slightly sad

Maybe to some. I have heard that term too and I pretty much loose my respect for anyone who thinks that.

hey _SiN_,
may i ask what you do for a living? ^^
i, for when i ever decide to get a tattoo, wouldn't go below the elbow - a lot easier to hide (and from what i've heard the elbow is an especially painful place ^^)
hope we get to see some in progress pics of that, i always like to see how a tattoo "evolves"

but on those 20 year old wannabe party it-girl skanks that's a term that just comes to mind - apart from that, those lower back tattoos lack diversity, they all kinda look alike to me :/
EDIT: spelling and grammar - damn, my english teacher would have killed me for some of those mistakes, sentences not making sense, wtf?

People are free to do what they want. Whatever they want. In this case _SiN_ wants this tat. alot. I have never known him to bitch about mistakes he made. You can't compair him with a 20-yr old party girl. Not in any way a fair comparison.

That means nothing, he's about 20.
I remember reading that a study was performed showing a positive correlation between extensive tattoo's and negative body image or low self-esteem. I would say that pretty much sums it up.
I think a tattoo should be simple, personal and meaningful, not something you find in a magazine and think looks imposing. The tattoo posted in this thread is a Yakuza convention tattoo that originates from a completely different culture. Don't try and pretend that you want it for anything other then looking cool.
This is me going easy on you SiN, because apart from this potentially disastrous decision you seem like a sound lad.

Yes, I agree to that. Somewhat.
Altho 20 (I think) is a pretty good age to live with your mistakes. Yes, there is a huge age factor and experience, but he seems pretty sure of what he wants, has wanted it for a while.
Most tattooed people I have talked to were'nt happy with what they id at 14--17 ages.

Well, I'm 24 and still think I'm too "young" to even think seriously about tattoing myself.

@Reklis: Im a graphic/web designer And the whole part of that maybe i won't get hired because of it - first of all, tattoos are today a pretty common thing, and it's getting bigger everyday. Secondly, if an employer denies me work because of my looks, i don't want to work there anyway. That's just what i believe, and i stand for it.
@AM: Now, i do know what you're talking about, really, i do. I'm 22 by the way.
This deciscion i assure has nothing to do with my self esteem or negative body image, trust me, i really like the way i look today, and i outright love tattooed arms, be it on guys or girls.
This being something i'll regret isn't even on the map, i am dead sure about this - and i do think i know myself better than anyone else. Being a long, long time fan of tattoos and the art, i've seen my fair share of people getting tattoos for just the wrong reasons. You can't just pick a design out then just do it, cause you saw it a few days earlier. That is something i could never ever do - pick a design from some book or the internet or just one from the artbooks in the studio. Never! My first one i drew entirely myself, and this one will also be a design by myself, just that the style will be japanese. And no, this hasn't much at all to do with the Yakuza - granted it is from a very different culture, but the style is very widespread and a plays a huge part in tattooing as an artform. Oh, and yes, the primary reason for this is the looks, i find it extremely good looking as a style.
What can I say other than I know myself better than you do, or anyone else does. You may like simple, smaller designs, good for you! Who am I to say shouldn't get one?
Just as long you've thought it through. Wich i have, a couple of hundred times.
So people, please stop speculating if im going to regret it, be it the week after or 10 years later. I'm not stupid, i know what getting a tattoo means, and this is my choice, a choice i've thought through and planned for a very long time now.
