|
 |
As you all will have noticed, there are lots of news about the hurricanes down in the caribbean ATM.
Now you get these news, that until now about 300 people have died in Haiti from the storms, which certainly is a bad thing. But what wonders me: Why is there no single report of a casualty in the dominican republic? At least here in Germany, they always only talk about the Haitian victims.
Both countries are on the same island, so certainly there would at least be some victims if over 300 people died in Haiti.
I thought, maybe the state of dominican republic doesn't give out any numbers on casualties, but I couldn't find any info on this anywhere.
Can anybody clarify this for me?

One person died in the Dominican Republic.
Most people in Haiti died from the flooding, not directly from the storm itself, and the storm got a bit closer to Haiti than to the DR.
