I love loaner cars.

Well I finally got my car fixed. A woman backed into it while parked at the dog park.

I got my first loaner car and had to take it back when I got home, the dealership ordered the wrong part. Aparently Sequoia 4X4 fender flares are quite rare and the ordered the one for the common models. So then I had to wait another 2 weeks for the part that was shipped from Japan. So I get my call the part is in, I drive back over there and do the whole process all over again. Then they call me later to say the clips that arrived with the part were broken and it would take another week. So I had 2 option. I could return the car on loan and come back next week or I could just drive the loaner until mine was fixed. I choose to drive the loaner car.

Anyway here is a picture. Toyota Matrex XR. Sport edition. It is not a expensive car, maybe like $20,000. It has 2000 km on it only. I was soo nervous driving it off the lot. I am such a chicken shit when I am driving someone elses car.

I loved it. It was soo speedy compared to my SUV. It took me a while to get used to the gas and the brakes. It had this weird shify thing. It was an automatic but you could drive it in gears without the clutch.

I made my passangers scream once. I had a tendency to cut the right corners too much. I took a sharp corner and I was sure I was going to get that 'bang' and my passenger screamed. But it was fine, smoooooth. I just turned to him really calm, and asked "whats wrong" hehehe Like I meant to do it.

I love driving a faster car. I was soo speedy I am surprised I didn't get a ticket. Holy shit the gas!!!!! It is a fraction of what I use in my suv. The back is far too small for me and work.

Car outside

Car inside my garage. See my tools. Soo much extra room. My 4x4 hardly fits. Same thing with my older van. I had to use the sliding door to get in and out.

looks nice , kinda like the european Corolla
it's a toyota , good and reliable , european cars from canada/us arent built as well as they are here .
anyway , they're kind nice , hope that you get good mpg
but this car could help change your mind about swtiching to something smaller or even the same car .
50 mph ? meh , i did like .. 85 with an Astra 1.7DTI with 76 hp , but usually hit 60 , but i'm very precacious .
once like at 2 am in the morning my dad did like 130 mph , that was the fastest i ever went in city .

You have a great car yourself so you shouldn't make fun of me Smile
The whole speed thing is 'mouth watering great' It was like a drug. I took it out on the hwy and it was like Vromm!!! Vromm!!! on the pedal. I passed people no matter the incline. I can only imagion what is it is like to have a hot car. A truly hot car with a great responce time. To me it is kinda scary. I love my dirt roads tho.

My sister was scared shitless when we when hunting for her fossils on a old logging road. I was driving up a super steep road with a huge drop under it. You looked over and saw nothing but drop (and trees) . 2 times I actually got out of my car and looked at road. Super narrow, yet the road was warped (upward sloping) to weather. Run off and such. I don’t usually take chances. Sometimes we take the real back roads to Whistler (ski resprt) and Doc's creek always gets washed out. You have to drive on the back-o's trailes. [sp] It is a machine that levels everything on the ground.

Sometimes if you try to go up a steep gravel road (huge incline) your tires spin, the car gets pulled (Murphy's law) to the bad side of the cliff. You have to reverse and go forward and back, something getting out and sticking rocks under the wheels (sometimes taking an hour) for traction.

My sister was so freaked out. (she used to be so brave) Her fiancé was great.

I wasn't aware of it before. You hear about it later and you feel like an idiot.

it's kinda like the tip-tronic on the VW's

but i do prefer stick myself , better control and fuel economy
+ you can brake the car without pushing the pedals , changing into a lower gear

shit like shit is just cool , but i'd prefer the hands on approach

I never got the hang of standard trannies. Mostly my exp comes from toyota trucks. I can do it but I am not smooth. I never grind but I do stall out. Some cars are harder then others.

Maybe I should try again.

Toyota actually combine Matrix sales with their Carolla sales, mainly because a Matrix is a Carolla hatch-back. Great commuter car with utility, theres a reason the Matrix/Carolla sell so well alongside the Camry.

The reason you had trouble getting use to the gas is probably because the car uses a drive by wire throttle. As for the brakes, that thing weighs half as much as your SUV so it probably felt like the brakes grabbed really fast when you put your foot on the pedal.

Like someone else said, WAKE UP CALL. Gigantic vehicles are not needed!

Mine is not gigantic. It is the older model. I have to have that kind of space in the back for work and money. I have to fit a fridge sometimes. I am not driving to pick up non-existent kids from soccer practice.

People don't understand sometimes you have a need. They want to jump on you but don't understand how much it would cost to have some ass pull your shit around. I have a enough of a hard time hauling around all the shit I do. It is heavy.

The last time I took transit (for 2 people) on a week day for a 3 zone pass, it cost more then if I was to drive including parking. Week ends it makes more sence because it is only 1 zone.

I love driving it, (loaner car) So cool. i couldn't take my dog in it either. Loaner car=no smoking+no pets

It's not that people don't understand, it perception. Look at the average SUV/Pickup owner, do they honestly put any of that utility to use? Here in SoCal at least, I come across these bathtubs occupied by a single person. They get hated on for a reason, 99% of owners purchased them with intentions other than to make real use of them. You've got Soccer moms who are comfortable in a bigger car and dudes who buy Pickups thinking it's an American/Manly trend to follow. 99% of pick up beds here are EMPTY, 99% of SUV's have 1 occupant and that's the driver.

A way you can easily come to this conclusion is by looking at sales. Soon after the Explorer boom (which started this all) the sales for SUV's/Pickups skyrocketed. Now that oil is where it is, dealerships are offering insane incentives on their inventory of SUV's/Trucks which are collecting dust. Did people stop buying them because they found an alternative source of utility vehicle? Nope, they realized they could do without them and went with a smaller car, this also makes no sense but that's another topic. Dealerships are practically giving the damn things away for free, the SUV is a dying breed.

I'm all for the owners who use them for work/hauling stuff but the truth is nobody really does. Women drive them for various reasons, main one being the elevated driving location provides a commanding and powerful position, a lot of it is psychological. +100's of other reasons.

Sorry for the rant. Laughing

I just can't understand owning one as a daily driver, Unaerodynamic, tons of body roll, mushy brakes, numb steering, horrible turning radius. Notice I didn't mention fuel consumption and sheer size. Laughing I can go on and on.

The damn things just piss me off. Smile
