Anyone into that kind of thing? Building and programming them?

I was told to try something simple like this

http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=8527&cn=17&d=70

any other kits like that for new people to try it out, just to play around with it and then onto bigger things?

We will be building robot soon in my career discovery class but whats 3 hours a week will
do? :/ and i kinda what to mess around with my own thing at my house

thanks!

Yeah, most of my degree was built around robotics and AI.. although we did use some lego kit most of of it was MIT Handy Board based. They both have good and bad points.

I think the logical evolution of consciousness is towards an artificial vessel. Biological systems are so fragile.

Don't fight it!

lol i know mate, I was just joking.

Personally, I cant wait to see all the stuff they come up with when AI becomes practical and used widely (not just in high tech corps but in houses and regular day life).

I wonder what kinda stuff they are gunna come up with in the next 20 years. Personally, Im waiting for replicators (star trek) and those pads they use on star trek.
Even more so, I cant wait for quantum computing. Imagine the games you could make with that kinda power. Cant wait!

I think what they'll do with quantum computing is some bad ass math and phy problems, and than, after a while they'll install Crysis on it and it will run on ultra settings with 25 fps Laughing
No, kidding, it will be same as with first computer: big as a gym hall, doing 1+1=2 problems, and then installing snake on it Very Happy But seeing how fast these things with computers and science are going, who knows what things await us...

I'm taking an AI course exactly now. We're using Lego Mindstorms to represent a 4x4 Wumpus World simulation. Ever heard of that?

It's actually quite good example for an agent-based system and the use of knowledge-base to deduce and solve problems.

You can Google it, it's a nice logic problem.

Had to fucking implement a Prolog interpreter in C# to make this shit work properly, plus dealing with stupid LEGO robot that has one wheel which is 6% larger than the other (don't ask).

You people should know not to discount things immediately! Razz
