It's a MMO, so be prepared to shell cash on it every day.

I don't see the Stargate mmorpg doing to well when it comes to getting enough players. Hopefully it won't share the fate as Asheron's Call 2 where seeing another player was rare. It got so bad that they canceled the game and this was suppose to be the next big thing when it came out... Stargate won't even have the hype. Making a mmorpg seems to be a real risky thing today epically since WoW.

There was supposed to be a shooter based on the series, but it went into development hell, and the developers went out of business. Now that was a loss, if you ask me.

The Stargate MMO gonna need good advertisement.
A good cinema movie would be great for that.

We'll see about this game. What worries me though is that the developers have been talking about "cash-shops" and what not, and how micro payments are the future of MMORPGS....I hope they do not make a stupied call about this game...

a mmo isnt "unsuccessful" when it has less players than WoW ....

i think stargate worlds will be a hit
there are a ton of stargate fans out there, tons of em. Possibly even more than star trek.
And most are probably ppl over the age of 18, so tons of potential players

Thats not what I said. WoW is simply dominate right now and the players of other mmorpg's tend to be loyal to it epically Eve Online. Trying to convince these people to switch over or even share their time between games is going to be almost impossible.
One of the reasons Ashron's call 2 failed is because its own predecessor continued to be more popular after 2's release. Showing truly how hard it is to convert dedicated players of one game to go to another.
Certainly they don't need nearly the amount of players as WoW but getting whatever is needed isn't going to be easy.

It's an MMO, fat chance of getting to play anyone of real importance.
But yeah very excited about SG:W as well, rolling a Goa'uld for sure. |
lol yeah
Hopefully you'll be able to be part/ command a team and fight along ai sg1 on certain missions
They better add SG1 in the game

i think they should try putting players (atleast some) into actual teams to work together, now that would be more of a movie experience like being one of the team and screaming and fighting amongst each other... sigh thats a good show
otherwise looks real good, tho from some screens from the site it looks like a "blue vs Red" war game, hope it wont be like that.
i would probably roll a Sarcastic teamleader who likes to insult powerful enemies with cliche one liners, there is no weapon more mightier!

SDCC 08: Stargate Worlds Hands-on
Quote: | It seems like since Stargate Worlds was announced, all we've gotten to see of it is trailer after trailer. Don't get me wrong, that's generally how game announcements go, but with an MMO delving into a franchise as deep as Stargate, you really just want to sit down and play the thing.
Today at the San Diego Comic-Con, I did just that.
Set between season eight and season nine of Stargate SG-1, Worlds lets you create a character in a given faction as well as choose your role -- called an archetype -- in the game. Commandos excel at stealth and can hide in plain sight, soldiers rock on the fighting front, scientists understand tech better than anyone, archeologists are masters of disguise, Jaffa get a crushing bow staff, and Goa'uld (or Asgard depending on your faction) can create attack drones. |

The video looked like ass.... "Wait No We Don't" wasn't funny at all, and I really hope they have better writing for the game. Expect this game to be a massive letdown ala Tabula Rasa
