So, it's going to be about Owi-Wan between Episode 3 and 4. Oh well.

Quote: | McGregor confirmed the series was going forward during a surprise appearance at Disney’s D23 fan convention in August. Quote: | The new series reportedly takes place eight years after the events of “Revenge of the Sith,” which ended with Kenobi besting his apprentice Anakin Skywalker in a dramatic duel on the fiery planet of Mustafar. |

Well, he's still a better character than Rey.

Seems like a really odd choice, i mean it's not exactly like he's the most loved SW character of all time and i'm pretty sure they're aware of that.
On the other hand its Disney, and they do seem to take great pleasure in pissing off the fans, it sometimes seems to be more important than making money even..

Hmm? Well, the Mandalorian is very fan servicey though, like it is sucking the fans' dick. That is how it seemed to me. Not a bad thing, mind you.

is everything half-decent sucking someone's dick and a fan service? then there's a lot of fan servicing going on in the world.
with Mandalorian i guess they decided to not get too involved in the creative process, which obviously is a good thing for the fans and for whoever works on the show (and who perhaps actually cares about the lore of star wars).

No honestly, apart from Rey being a Marry Sue, why would you say that Jar-Jar is a better character? Wasn't he was just a (very terrible terrible) excuse for a comic relief? Constantly falling over, mumbling, stepping in shit. For Rey I can at least say that she had a motivation and was as a character much more developed than other main figures, f.e. Poe Dameron.

He has one single line in SW3 ("'scuse me"), he's not even a character beyond the first film.

Jar-Jar can get away with the comic relief, its harder for Rey to get away with the numerous inconsistencies in her character.
Jar-Jar never really gets annoying because he's mainly in the background, ok maybe he's annoying for 1 minute in total. i have no bigger problems with that. The Ewoks were way more terrible and had way more screen time than him.

Jar-Jar is the great Divider. He was a clown and failed miserably as comic relief (taking the place of C3PO and R2D2) since it was like someone copied a silly cartoon into SW. Some have a higher tolerance but in hindsight Jar-Jar was a serious mistake.. except for pre-teens.

He was obviously there for the pre-teens, just like the Ewoks (who later got two own movies, aimed at kids, obviously). I don't know how kids liked him, not for me to say if he did great or not, i'm obviously not the audience.

I WAS a pre-teen when I saw RotJ so I fit right into that group and I guess that's why I still have no issues with them but I could see how an adult wouldn't be into the whole ewok deal.

Quote: | Last week, troubling rumors began swirling about the upcoming Disney+ series revolving around the character of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Two independent sources with knowledge of the situation tell Collider that the Obi-Wan series has been put on hold, as the crew that had assembled at Pinewood Studios in London was sent home. A timeframe was not given, but the crew was told that the show would be down “indefinitely.”
We’re hearing that Lucasfilm president and Obi-Wan producer Kathleen Kennedy was not happy with the scripts. Sources tell us that what will most likely happen next is the scripts will be reworked with the hopeful goal of reassembling this summer, but there’s always the possibility that that timeframe could shift.
THR, confirming the report, also notes that Lucasfilm is looking for a new writer to replace Amini and planning to scale the series back from six episodes to four. According to one source, the “Kenobi story treaded similar ground as Mandalorian, seeing the Jedi master lending a protective hand to a young Luke and perhaps even a young Leia.” |
