Probably somewhat useless but the above is a little benchmark program, could be fun for those wondering how the game will look and run at specific settings.

Well if anything it should prevent some of the "Will it run fine with..." type of posts but I actually tried it and it's a bit limited and doesn't fully work with x64 systems or perhaps Vista in general.
(Yeah I know alot of people blaim Vista for all sorts of issues but I like it and haven't had any serious problems even when using those public release candidates and perhaps the game itself is a bit limited in what can be adjusted but I heard the PC version is somewhat enhanced though it might just be minor things.)

Voice acting is pretty bad after watching some of the movie files, might still be a good action title though.
(Haven't tried the game yet as I'm currently removing logo videos and similar, pretty odd that a few files are 0KB like they were removed or something.)

EDIT: Hehe, page 15 of the manual tells me to press the [SHIT] button to avoid being dazed, guess a few spelling mistakes made it into the retail version.
(\Orochi\Res\english\shortcut\ - looks like there's a few different languages albeit the movies only seems to be in German, English and French.)

I like it, it's much like dinasty warriors hyper, there is certain need for such games...
The bad thing is that you can't create a custom bodyguard unit here, but you may switch to 1 of the 3 heros you select for the mission. The worst thing is the music.. i disabled it so fast.. in favor for the winamp...

Fuck me, this game needs a dual core fix or something, EVERYTHING is atleast twice as fast for me even the menus. Unplayable Sad

Just found out a funny thing, it's normal in windowed mode, so I guess I'll have to play in windowed then.

So that means there are no Japanese voices?

And also:

That means no 2-player split-screen mode?

Yes, it has the 2 player option, even when in game (if i recall correctly).

The game will often tell you to "Press F12 for second player to join" or something like that so split-screen should still work, just not online multiplayer.

LINKDATA_GNS

That's probably the german sound/voice files

LINKDATA_FNS

This is probably the french sound/voice files

LINKDATA_ENS

And this would be the english sound/voice files

I don't know exactly if the above is correct or what the files actually contain but there's a LINKDATA_DMY which is 0KB in size so perhaps that was the original Japanese sound/voice set.

Ofcoruse that leaves the cutscenes which has the audio directly in it instead of subtitles or having the audio file in another location so I don't think it would be a easy task to add back the Japanese audio.
(Files in those archives are probably further localized such as the text displayed and similar.)

Thx for answering my questions.

Too bad that they removed the Japanese audio... I'd really like to know wtf people responsible for localizations are thinking when doing such things.
Imho the Japanese voices are essential for enjoying this kind of game to its full extent...

It's probably better to use a gamepad if available as the keyboard controls are a bit clunky though still usable and one has to like these arcade type button mashing games.
(I kinda grew up with them due to all those titles for arcade machines and early consoles - though not as early as the C64/Amiga stuff. / I'm not that old. )

Towards the end of the first map (Easy difficulty at first to get used to the game mechanics.) I had nearly killed a thousand units with mostly standard attacks and later maps have much more troops on them.

(There's less than a five minute difference between those shots.)

I only wish that resolution wasn't limited to 1280x1024 (Or perhaps it was 960) so that I wouldn't need to play in windowed mode.
(Native resolution of a 226CW is 1680x1050 so scaling is a bit of a issue on other resolutions.)

Oh and IGN has a review up.
http://pc.ign.com/articles/862/862303p1.html
(I agree about most of the things but I like the gameplay albeit I would probably not be able to play trough the game in only a few sittings as things do get a bit repetitive.)

Anyone tried this with 2 controllers?
I configured them both ingame but for the second player to join you need to press the F12 button (no button works to join on second controller) and then u can only use the keyboard.

the second controller does work cus u can use it in the options menu to remap
