Posted: Mon, 18th Aug 2008 20:00 Post subject: Xbox 360, shit hit the fan!. |
|
 |
So my son was playing some Bball game and shouted from the living room "Hey dad, there is somet up with the Xbox" me "WHAT!" him " I get some weird colors and crap"...me "WTF"
The screen would go from yellow and green back to a flickering mismatch of pure artifacts. I lifted the Xbox up to see if some cables or what not was in its socket...then I hear "tock tocktockTOCK TOCK! DAM! a fan is hitting the case or somet.
I called the shop where I bought it (flashed) and they said "we can't fix that, only Microsoft can. Is it flashed?" me "yea" shop "ok that will cost you 40€ unless you have the disc that came with the box" me "WHAT F'n DISC!"...
To make a long story short, I can't find that disc, so now I have to pay 40 bucks to unflash the darn thing, send it to MS (God knows what that will cost) and pay another 40€ to flash it back.
Believe me, I will dig deep in any forum or whatever to learn how to flash that dam thing myself.
Any links or tips guys?.
Cheers!

OH MAN! This is what i love with NFOhump, FAST ANSWERS! cheers will read that. Though I already gave the box away to get unflashed. Long story, but the shop is in another town and a guy at work that lives there took it today...so ok 40€ down the drain, but I will for sure fix to flash it back!.
Cheers nouseforaname!!!.

So i got my 360 "Unflashed" at the shop where I bought it. Called MS 360 Support and...here the fun begins.
I explained the symptoms, green/yellow screen, artifacts, fan hitting something etc etc.
The answer "That's the cable" WTF!, I was like "Noooo, I don't think so",
Woman at Support "YES IT IS!, We will send you a new cable withing 10 working days if that don't work we will pick up your 360 etc etc"
I was like "FUCK THAT (polite of course), it can't JUST be the cable, just pick it up guys!".
MS Support Woman "NO, we will send you the cable as I said...PERIOD!"
MAN! What a waist of space.

sounds like the support-call-center is well trained to avoid support really well.

I got a question.
It is about the flash drive and warranty. I don't have one but I have friends that do and I know that the warranty is Null and Void it the box has been opened which is easy to see from the screws. There are screws on the outside and inside. Their shit has been send back unfixed because it was previously flashed.
Is it different in Canada? Does the box get sent overseas to get fixed or does it go somewhere in NA and they are just fussy. I know of 2 xboxes that got sent back unfixed. Null and void warranty.

Well , in my case the "Shop" simply "deinstall" the software flash. They don't really touch any hardware as such = no void warranty.

they have local repair shops
the one in ontario is in North York (Toronto)
Im guessing the one for BC is in Vancouver or Victoria. Or maybe cause your so close to Seatlle it might go there. But usually every major city has a repair centre

360 has no screwes outside, besides it's possible to open and close it without ripping off warranty sticker

But there are screws in the inside and no matter how carefull you were you would still chip the paint so they would know.

Latest on this crap.
My Son finally decided to check out the cable sent by MS ( I knew it would not work, but anywho) It did not work! .
So i called back to support and told them to pick up the dam thing.
Ok, no prob, they sent me a UPS label to put on the package and all that (free of charge pick up).
Was busy at work and forgot to print the dam thing out...so when I finally got down to it, it was not valid anymore (MAX 10 days)...oh well,
I called them back and explained, "sorry but was on holiday and now it's expired"..."no prob we send you a new one Sir". NEVER CAME!.
So I called back and explained blah blah blah...It turns out that the woman on the support hot line CANCLED THE PICK UP!...Any way, now they will pick up the darn thang in the morn and then HOPEFULLY FIX IT!...to be continued ...
I know..this is probably not the way things should run, but there it is...and yea, I am still busy at work .
