By baked in, do you mean reencode the video with the subs or somehow integrate them inside the AVI file? The former is fairly easy to do. You have software like AutoGK (+ DirectShowSource) and TMPGenc 4 to help you with that. The latter is a problem that demonstrates the shortcomings of the AVI container. It is practically not really doable. I've seen some hacks that somehow put the files inside, but then nonsupporting players don't recognize the audio and video streams.

just repackage it into an .mkv container
no recompression required and will take the whole of three minutes to do
.ogm supports subtitles aswell, but is a very limited and outdated format, though still superior to .avi (a derivative of .avi, actually)

I tryed using virtualdub with a subs plugin, wich did what I wanted perfectly, but the file is 2 times bigger, wich sucks

If you want to switch the container to MKV, the best way to do that is mkvtoolnix. Install it, run mmg.exe, drag the AVI file, and it will automatically select both audio and video streams. Then drag the subtitles file, and it will automatically select the subtitles stream as well. If you like everything done right, like me, you'd want to set the language of the audio and subtitles streams. The tool also supports appending of multiple files, so if you have a 2CD dvdrip, you're also in for a treat. Just note that, when appending multiple files, you have to arrange that each appended stream has to be appended appropriately (video with previous video, audio with previous audio and so on).
