Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

  • Official web page: LINK
  • Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios
  • Developer: Rare
  • Genre: 3D Platformer
  • Release date: Q4 2008
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:

Things are a bit different this time around. The core gameplay mechanic - and the method by which worlds are traversed, challenges tackled and progress made - is the creation and customisation of vehicles, using components found, bought and won throughout Showdown Town. From wheels and weapons to springs and wings, all of which can be combined in any number and style, there's a staggering level of experimentation and personalisation for those willing to dabble. If you can imagine it, you can probably build it. But any adventurer with less confidence, experience or time on their hands can still jump in and take on the game with a pre-built range of vehicles. The Lord of Games might be heavy-handed, but he's big on equal opportunities.

  • Multiplayer: YES

It´s good to see a game of this genre in the xbox.
It looks refreshing!

Most anticipated game of the year for me! Smile

No coop I think.

One of the most promising aspects of Nuts & Bolts is that you'll be able to share your contraptions with and race against other friends on Xbox Live. Rare is planning to include a whole range of online race modes in the game, and the ones we saw were full of bizarre vehicles. It was really interesting to see how different people build their own vehicles, each with differing characteristics and strengths.

not realy clear about coop

. Cooperative multiplayer is listed as well, though the label "cooperative challenges" makes us think that co-op through the single-player campaign is probably out.

The previews don't sound very promising, highlighting a lot of focus on the vehicle building as the main mechanic of gameplay (as opposed to the platforming gameplay of old).

I really wish the 360 would get the Ratchet and Clank franchise. I haven't tried one, but those games always looked really fun IMO.

Yep.

I fear there is too little actual platforming in this one. Reminds me more about Diddy Kong Racing.

No sequel announced, don't expect any in the future due to poor sales, but Double Fine are doing a new game "Brütal Legend".

Damn we waited all these years for a new Banjo platformer and now they come up with this vehicle crap? Doesn't look promising. I'm not excited at all. Sad

hm was pretty exited until now
just watched this interview and this guy said they removed the standard moves from banjo kazooie (the platforming action) and replaced that with vehicle parts o.O
I mean I'm fine with vehicles but to use them all time time it's just not the same anymore... but I'll wait and see how it turns out.

I've never been so scared of a company ruining a series of games as I have now. BK and BT were legendary games, perfect in nearly every way - I know Rare don't want to be accused of trotting out "more of the same", but to rip out the game mechanics that everybody loved and shove in a whole bunch of new stuff just for a sake of it ... why not just start a new IP and give us a traditional BK-style game?

At least they're not sullying the memory of Conker :/

agree with all above comments, isn't BK also meant to be getting that new MS motion controller?, seriously why?, been waiting since xbox 360 launch for this game and i'm not holding much hope for it now because i like all mentioned was hoping for the 1st true platform game for the 360 rather than collect parts to make vechicle's, wtf is that got to do with the franchise!
