I played SWG for quite a while, next to the usual fantasy, I really look forward to something more Scifi that will last a while...

Time will tell!

Huuuuuuggggggeeeee.

2 Cents from a savvy MMORPG vet: Their discussion of story adding context is a very good concept. If they pull it off as Bioware always does, the storytelling in this game will be insanely epic.

Game sounds like shit. Star wars galaxies was ruined because of shitty ass jedi/sith bullshit.

People want to play as a 'normal' person in the star wars universe. We've seen and played enough games where you play as a Jedi/Sith. It's old, and it's boring.

My expectations for this game are really low. Bioware makes good single player action RPG's - But I just can't see this game being to good.

I do. Thats what made star wars galaxies so good the first 2 years it was out. Then they ruined it when they made acquiring jedi/sith status so easy. I'd rather make my OWN character - And SWG allowed that before NGE. I could be a bounty hunter / Ranger. I could be a pikeman / whatever. I don't want to play as a jedi. I've played as a jedi in a bazillion other star wars games.

Well, one of us is in the minority.

I feel most people want to have sick jedi powers rather than no sick jedi powers, but I could be wrong.

Well thats what YOU want, what matters though is what the majority of players want, and thats being a Jedi/Sith.

Can you show us statistics on either "fact"? Didn't think so... Laughing

Personally I cannot see how they are going to incorporate a dense and rich story into an MMO. I am definitively far from sold on this yet - and I am very sceptical when it comes to all MMOs.

Sadly these days kids just wanna have simpe cookie cutter MMOs. Im 99% sure this game will be just like most other shitty MMOs coming out trying to make some easy cash. The few pictures released immediatly shows us that they are going for the kiddy graphics aka cartoonish wow graphics, something that the KOTOR games didn't have and I don't see why they are adding it now ( Maybe too incompetent to create a decent running engine that still looks good?).

Luckily I am waiting for enough MMO games to even bother staying updated on this shit.

The ONLY thing I ask is no more clickety-like action. I want fps-like combat. or at least the system of tabula rasa.

TB was so boring, it used no brainpower or triggered any imagination. I fell asleep playing it.

I've clocked over 20 days in CoD IV since release, it has more depth imho, lewlz

he only referred to the combat system in TB (real time - turn based mixed, kinda) which was ok-good. We all know what a failure of a game TB was otherwise

games with a "super class" like this( considering what jedis can do/become they potentially are inhumanly powerful compared to "normals"), i think they should have long and difficult training missions for em and make them so players can do them only once per character, so if they fail(ofcourse makin it possible to fail) they will be kicked the fck out of the jedi order or something and have to get a real job. that would actually make jedis special like they are suppose to be.
i personally would probably play something else than a jedi, like a bounty hunter or a sith minion that shoots freakin jedis in the face and runs off lol-ing.

this seems to be turnin out like they are trying to make a push at the wow throne, makin the combat point+click+fall asleep and all that cartoony graphs. FAAAIL!
THE time for cartoony point and click snorefests is over, COME UP WITH SOMETHING ORIGINAL in the name of everything unholy...

Why are you idiots forced to have the mentality, "What have you done for me lately?".

Bioware is one of, if not the best, developer out there. Try giving them the benefit of the doubt. You read "MMORPG" and enter "This Sucks" mode.

Fuck this shit. They fucked up kotor 2 by rushing it and now instead of concluding the trilogy they make an mmo where every little kiddie can run around waiving his/her lightsaber.

Didnt they hire obsidian to design the game? Bio own the kotor brand dont they? And its their descision to turn it into a grind fest aka mmo.

yea but once in awhile a shining star emerges, although rare. But i think this game could be one of them, and with bioware at the wheel it has a good chance of being just that.

as long as they steer clear of the console market.

im still very sceptical, since we have been promised alot of new and interesting stuff, while they have turned out like poop. but Bioware is ... well its freakin bioware, a shining star in the gaming industry, then again EA owns em now and who knows what/how they want things done.

Well, if it is anything like SWG WAS before EVERY1 could go jedi this will be awesome.
I really hope they make Jedi's a "hero" class or something like that. So not every1 will run around being a jedi. And the graphics is NOT Star Wars'y. Sad

But, its to early to say anything about the game really.
We just have to pray its not gonna be a jedi fest.

Why all that hate and brainless criticism to a game no one knows?

BTW, if they ask for a monthly fee, FORGET my support.

There is some other thread for this but whatever.

I said it before and I'll say it again, it's another timeperiod and a server populated with give or take 3000 jedi/sith isn't that big of a stretch if you consider those people the majority of the jedi/sith population in the universe. And, I'm just guessing here, but let's say they follow the normal mmo spreadsheet, then you'll probably get the following classes:
Tank - Jedi
MeleeDPS - Jedi
Magic(force)DPS - Jedi
Healer - Jedi

But that still leaves room for like ranged weapon "sniper"-based classes, stealth/assassin-classes and so on.

So while I guess a lot of people will be jumping on the jedi/sith bandwagon I'm sure they will come up with enough options if you don't want to play one.
