Nvidia to leave only six partners

Exclusive: The list

Very well informed sources said that Nvidia will cut all but six partners. The ones to stay are EVGA, PC partner (Zotac), Asus, MSI, Palit and XFX.

We don't know anything more than the list and it looks that Nvidia will announce this very shortly.

Everyone else who is not on this list will be cut off and this will make much better breathing space for the remaining six partners. At press time we don't have any more details than that.

I heard that EVGA would lose(corrected after bollocking from "dominae") the contract, but actually, why kill a golden goose Smile.

I don't know what to say, except that 'loose' means that something isn't firmly attached. Not that something would be lost.

Lose, lost, lost.

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

Just be glad that dominae didn't point out the fact that you've got your fables mixed up because unless I am mistaken you are referring to The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs and not The Golden Goose. The reason being that while the Golden Goose was golden and may have been intrinsincally worth a fortune, the sale of the goose never actually took place in the tale. It was the effect that the goose had on other people that led to the windfall that you were referring to. In that case The Goose That Laid The Golden Eggs would be more appropriate because even though it wasn't made of gold it led to periodic windfalls for the owner.

It's a common enough mistake though. A bit like people referring to Frankenstein's monster as Frankenstein whereas the monster in the story did not really have a name. Very Happy Yes, I know. FACEPALM TIME! Razz

Oh dear...this is getting better by the second. I bet that this forum would stop if one scrutinized every post made by a non English (native speaker)...Wink.

This is rapidly becoming a "splitting the hairs" thread

This is good. Less threads asking which "Brand" to buy.

Nvidia denies six partners only

Officially

We got word from the director of Nvidia EMEA Public Relations Luciano Alibrandi and he said that our original news that you can read here, is absolutely not true.

Let us quote him: “This is absolutely not true”

On our part, we apologize for all the confusion that we might have created. We believe these six will get special treatment, but it looks like the rest won’t be cut off. There will be cuts, but the holy six won't be the only ones to stay on board.

We are sure that this is not the last story about this special list, but some things might have been misinterpreted.

I believe they do. They have been producing their own PCB's for the 4850's making them a bit shorter.

Nvidia is too clever to go out and announce a radical cut to only six partners. They will chose a less radical method that will lead to the same goal.

The six that we’ve mentioned on Monday will get special treatment. Our sources are saying that they will give them better pricing, first allocation, design kits in advance of anyone else, making it very hard for anyone who is not in the inner circle to have good sales.

The other players will have a chance, but they will have to fight very hard for their bare survival. So, instead of radically cutting them off, Nvidia wants to make remaining partners work really hard and eventually fight for their position under Nvidia’s wing.

The key goal of this special six strategy is to allow key partners safe passage through the storm and to ensure they have healthy growth, and make some money in the process.

What a drama .
