Exploring various disciplines of off-road racing, Colin McRae: DiRT 2 will utilise an enhanced version of the EGO engine that was last seen in the impressive looking GRID, and will feature comprehensive online modes that promise to be a marked improvement over those in the original.

but you know what Chinese whispers are like; some newbie will read your comment and suddenly run and spread it all over the internet that the new 2010 Banwave disables all your XBLA games when you're banned.
They're using his name for the fame of it!
The guy was an awesome driver, PERIOD! ...RIP...
As long as this game delivers, I couldn't care less...
Just bring us a kick-ass racing game already!!!
One month to go. GRID had a demo 1 month before release day, but I guess that won't happen with DIRT2. Devs said something about demo release in early September
The DiRT 2 demo is coming out in North America on Xbox 360 20th August and Playstation 3 27th August and the Rest of the World on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 20th August.
We’re running a Competition where we’ve uploaded a video on our YouTube DiRT 2 Playlist called DiRT 2 Demo Lap Time Competition where the Codemasters Development Team sets what we consider to be a time which will take real skill to beat on the Morocco Trailblazer track featured in the upcoming demo. The ten fastest times set will win some awesome prizes, even if our lap time is not beaten.
The fastest lap time will win a pair of extremely limited edition DC DiRT 2 shoes plus a Codemasters Goodie Bag! 2nd to 10th will each win a Codemasters Goodie Bag!
It's DIRT-ish in terms of car behavior (long time since I played the first one but it sure does fell very similar). Looks pretty but the interiors are a bit lower in detail.
The water that splashes on the windshield can cause trouble...you can't see shit until it's wiped off (cockpit camera of course).
I like the menu system
In terms of customization there are different horn types to choose, hula-girl stuff to wooble in the car, your xbox avatar and other things to hang from the rear-view mirror.
GRID's flashback system is here too and it works in the exact same way.
I enjoyed it, and there's a lot of neat flourishes outside of the presentation which although freaking cool - does get annoying. But gameplay wise it really is just GRiD on DiRT. Same mechanics, but even more floaty cotrols. Still; really good fun so I'm not complaining, and I will be getting it for the PS3 to play online (as it has that addictivometer which means you grind your way into oblivion for no good reason ).

Yeah I just spent half a day playing it online, very addictive. But settings and your rank doesn't save after game exit? (360 version).
No, I meant more than GRiD. I don't really remember what the original DiRT played like. But floaty is probably the wrong word in comparison to GRiD actually. It's simply less grip... but same driving mechanics. I'm happy with the variety in the way the car behaves over the bumps and different materials too (some bumps are pretty severe, and the pools of water can destabilise and/or slow you down).
But it doesn't really feel like a 2009 release of the oldest Colin McRae games should (to me), it is just GRiD on... DiRT.... with less grip

They could have had it reset when you start playing the full game, but I guess it's one way of devaluing what is a pretty good demo with multiplayer options.
