I'm trying to quit smoking. I attempted to do it a couple months ago, but it was so hard. Plus, most of my friends smoke. I heard the best way is to just go cold turkey. I tried gradually weaning myself off of them, but to no avail. Any tips from any ex-smokers out there?

don't.
i smoke pack a day for almost 5-6 years straight. never felt that my bones hurt or i feel bad.

i guess it depends on whether your organism is strong enough to tolerate it.

almost all of my friends smoke too, and i can imagine it gets hard for you if you'd try to quit

When you feel like smoking, chew on a gum or something.

I've been smoke free for almost 2 years now ... I did it pretty gradually over about 5 years of cutting back Razz for me the hard part was wanting to smoke while drinking, so for the last couple years before I completely quit I only had the odd smoke when I was out with friends getting loaded and whatnot.

ask at a pharmacy about some herbal products for quitting smoking.
there's a plant extract that will make you nauseated if you smoke, so you won't get much fun out of smoking no more.

And...SNUFF!(Snus) FFS! You wanna walk around looking like a Hockey player (Swedish Hockey players all use the stuff) for the rest of your life .

I guess better then dying from lung cancer...but not by far Smile.

honestly. go on a binge drink for an entire weekend and force yourself not to smoke while you drink. if you win that. you quit.

Well i stop smoking 7months ago and the trick was easy. I drunk / smoked to much in that night way to much, next day i was sick of tobacco and never smoked again. Only in joints!! And i drink every weekends and never smoke tobacco again!

Hahaha, well it worked yeah, it sure worked, to the point I got a fucking epileptic seizure, thats how good it worked, 6 weeks of crooked back, couldn't breath while walking, ached over my entire body, I was fucked up bigtime, I was a fucking wreck for several months. Only had one seizure though thnx to that crap.

So I can only say, don't use it, the risc factor is very high with this drug, my friend even started feeling nauseous, dizzy, trouble concentrating, out of body experiences, etc.

But what you do with it is your perogative ofcourse.

Seriously, just quit. I know a couple of people (smoked 10 years+) who just quit , without any other help. Not gradually or anything. Its all in your head after the first time without it. Be strong, and just end it man.

I smoked for 1-2 years when younger and I just quit too, just like that. I still smoke sometimes, like on weekends, 3-4 cigs when drinking.

Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

I think chewing tobacco is even more disgusting than smoking. Stained teeth and spitting every ten minutes and I am sure your wife/gf will be overjoyed everytime you kiss her. Razz Not to mention the risk of getting tongue/mouth/throat cancer. Seen some scary pictures of people with cancer of the mouth. Sad

Hi Z00mer,

im 8 months free of cigarettes and any tobacco and no joke it was so much easier to stop smoking than i thought.
i over the years have tried many ways but have found only 1 solution.

allen carrs easyway. http://allencarr.com/central/
there are different ways you can do it i done it via the book
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allen-Carrs-Easy-Stop-Smoking/dp/0140277633

its nothing to do with will power, weaning off them, going cold turkey etc.
imo there is no substitute, if your desperate to stop smoking ignore this advice at your peril.
all the best.

I read something about a kind of association therapy which links the addictive influence to something unpleasant. Each time a person wants to indulge his addiction the unpleasant memory/stimulus leads to such a revulsion that some people actually throw-up when they do try to satisfy their addiction. Can't remember the exact name and google is bombarding me with nicotine patch ads. Sad

But this is also a kind of psychotherapy so if you think that it's all jedi mind-crap then it's not for you.
