I was having performance issues with the above [surprise surprise considering its Gothic 3..]
My rig usually can max out any current title with little or no problem yet Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods is all jerky unless I turn off shadows and reduce AA to 2x.

So while researching a fix I found this:

Windows6.0-KB940105-x64 which is meant to resolve the 2gb limit with Nvidia GPU's however does anyone know if its suitable or necessary for the GTX 280 series under Vista Ultimate 64?

many thanks in advance

That "hotfix" as MS calls it is one of the most vital updates to Vista due to a few issues, I'm not good at explaining it but most titles benefit from it.

Obviously if you use SP1 you already have this (And a few other fixes.) installed. Smile
(MS releases new updates about once a month, good idea to check their site now and then as some fixes are "hotfixes" and not part of Windows Update but still improve and correct serious problems for instance they release performance improving patches and DirectX was recently updated via their redistributable and .NET was patched to 3.5 SP1.)
