So i've seen this new..."Intel i7"...i mean, what're they thinkin?,is it faster than a Intel Core2Duo E6600 on an XP or do "core2duo" CPUs are super effective on Vista and not XP?..(that's what i have, the E6600)..240€ costs over here at a shop (or abiit lesser on others..)..

i'm just curious,no,i'm not going to buy it,but was wondering if this CPU would work on my ASUS P5K Deluxe board..?

No. The i7 uses a new socket, 1366 and will not work or fit in a 775 board. Also its only compatible with DDR3.

The I7s are quite impressive compared to the leading QX processors which are brutally expensive (who the hell can afford a $1000+ processor?) but the low end I7-920 especially when overclocked will kill those older QX processors but problem is only X58 boards support the new I7s and such boards are NOT cheap.

I would wait on I7s.. never get first gen mobos regardless -- thats massively playing with danger in regards to buggy bios and driver hell.

Personally, I am waiting on mobos that support USB3.0 kuzz thats where the fun will be. Thats out mid-late next year.
