PC monitors are usually 16:10 and tv's are 16:9, for example some xbox360 gamers are bitchin for years that Microsoft makes a 16:10 update so that they can plug in their consoles into their pc monitors and play that way, right now they probably have a stretched image or something. I also have a 16:10 monitor and a 16:9 plasma tv certain pc games don't support 16:9, well some don't support widescreen at all, and you get a slightly stretched image if you play it on a 16:9 tv, I'd go with a 16:10 monitor if I were you. Beyond that I can't think of any difference it's all the same shit really.

Most good 16:10 monitors support "preserve AR" feature that allows you to play 16:9 with small black borders. For normal work, 16:10 is better - it has more screen space for the desktop and applications. With gaming it doesn't matter, you play with black borders, i.e. the same size as your 16:9 monitor.
