is PC online gaming as good as PS3 or even xbox360 ?
heard couple of bad things about pc online gaming like cheating & lack of players.is it true ?
i'm looking at buying legit copies of the games i want to play online & my list is short for now so here are the main ones :
call of duty world at war
pro evolution soccer 2009
pure
how do these compare to console online ? thanks for your help

There should be no shortage of players for new and popular games like the titles you mention, I guess the issue of cheating varies per title... Some games have good protection against it so the cheating is practically nonexistent, whereas in others it's much easier (this is easiest to check for each game if you google a bit - should be easy to find if people whine about cheating).

I play online with my PC MUCH more than I do with the Xbox 360 for whatever that's worth.

well, it's better because you can communicate easier (typing) and it's easier to pick a server (thru a server browser...most console games use matchmaking). It seems like the age of console'ers is a lot younger than PC gamers, too.
However, it is easier to cheat on the PC. And some games aren't as well suited for the PC.
PC>Console for most online games, but PES2009 and Pure are probably better suited for consoles.

yeah thanks very much for the replies.
@ted you said pes09 is better suited on consoles is that because of cheating or lack of online matches ? because i use 360 wireless controller for pc games & its as good as on the 360 console,so i really do think the pc is now suitable for all games not just fps.

If not there will never be a reliable "Oh the no consoles are selling more games than PCs"

ok i think i will buy call of duty world at war & pro evolution 09 from ebay today.lets hope the online multiplayer on pc will be worth it.

I have a 360 and PC, and personally, I think it's BS to pay whatever a month or year to play a game online when you can just get it for PC and play it online for free. You already pay for your internet, and the game, why should you pay to play the game online?
You also don't have to deal with as many kids. I had like a month free on my 360 when I got it. I stopped all tries of playing online cause I always ended up with some retarded kids hyped on up pixie sticks screaming I PWN YOO WOOAAAHHHHHAAAOOWAAAAA.... I WANT MAC N CHEESE FOR DINNA MOM!!!

only played console-multiplayer at a friend's place with a ps3 and it was fun actually. Kinda different too, because of the controller - which kinda is inferior in fps games to mouse and keyboard - but still heaps of fun (we played cod4 and some other games online)

SpykeZ you are right kids can get annoying sometimes but would you rather have the odd kid screaming on console's online multiplayer game or hackers & cheaters on the pc one ??

depending on what games you play. You use steam I never had to worry about cheaters on steam's official servers. Sacred 2 has official servers you don't have to worry about etc.
All in all the only cheaters I've had to deal with were in Counter Strike. |

btw today i installed sof2 on my vista pc & to my surprise the game is still active & as fun as it used to be,not amazing graphics specially with no 1920x1080 or even 12**x720 res but its still fun.what a great fps

the only thing that pisses me off and ruins my games on PC is the HUGE amount of hackers
on steam and especially counter strike sometimes there's at least 2 hackers in each server

I play CS every 2-3 days and never encountered any cheater if I play on VAC secured servers.
And yes, I know VAC still can be fooled to think that you're not a cheater, but oh well.
But as soon as I played on 1 non-VAC protected server I got killed in the first 2 seconds of the game by a guy with a speedhack.

I can't remember if I ever saw a cheater on CSS legal servers. I NEVER saw a cheater in TF2, or DoDS. I saw like 1 or 2 cheaters in BF2 since game release 3 years ago. In CoD4 I saw maybe 3 cheaters in 9 months. All these times cheaters were banned quickly. Ofcourse I own all these games and situation on legal servers is much better than on cracked ones. When I played CoD4 on cracked servers I saw cheaters every day, same with CoDWaW. If you buy the game and play one legal servers you will almost never see cheaters.
You guys blow this cheaters thing out of proportion.

As long as you find good servers with active admins, cheaters are a thing of the past.

Theres always cheaters in FPS games, there were lots of em in the beta as it had crappy PB settings but now that it went live I have seen only 1 and he was quickly banned by the admin. As the one guy said, find a good server with active admins and you wont see any cheaters
