Why anybody wouldnt install sp2 is beyond me. Why the hell would you update your grfx or sound drivers? For that matter why would you install xp if u can run dos.

People may think that MS puts spying apps and other shit that reports back, hehe. I've also heard that it slows down the comp a bit, like 1-2% or something like that but It's not a big deal if you're on a clean install. It's much worse on a patched one.

SP1 does slow down the boot time up to 40-60%, they even said it on M$ website. But SP2 speeds it up considerably (compared to SP1). The perfromance on all the machines I installed windows SP2 on, really improved (and i do ~10 clean installs on new and old pc's/laptops per month).

Also DON'T install WMP10 as MS themselves said that it contains parts of the Microsoft genuine copy program and it will disable some os features after installing.

tell that to M$ ! my father has on his work pc the same winblews as i do , with the same sp2 , cd-key. he installed WM10 , EVEN THOUGH i told him not to & it just adds a graphical interface .... nothing is blocked ... at least untill now ;]
