Sounds handy right? WRONG. Steam idiots don't know the math and they think that $1 = €1. I'm speechless. Me liking steam turned into huge hate in 2 minutes.

well, that's conveniently fucked up
and there's absolutely no reason to do this other than to fuck us up the ass
it doesn't cost a dime more to "ship" a digital copy to china, italy, norway or the us of a
what they SHOULD have done is have the dollar value visible and local currency next to it, as calculated by the latest conversion rates
like;
$10 ( 6.94€, at 8:00 CET, 18th of december 2008 )
actual current conversion rate btw
you usafags really screwed up your moneeh
User was temp banned for this.

They already do this 1:1 conversion with boxed titles... guess it was only a matter of time before they "figured out" this trick for digital delivery as well.... those bastard!
Well, I'll continue buying from play.com as I always had: lower prices, boxed & free delivery. Was usually cheaper than steam even with dollar currency anyway...

Steam has always been overpriced, for example cod4 in there has been 50euros since it got released, in a store in here I can get it for 15-20euros

I've never liked their pricing (always more expensive, even if there's shipping costs), but this is retarded.

So all that is left now is to get someone in the US to buy it for you and gift you the game...
But it's probably only a matter of time until they stop that as well, like limit the gifting to regions as well...

As many have said, the pricing on Steam was always fucked. I never understood why anyone would buy a digital download for say €50 while you can get most PC games for 40-45 around here.

Changing the topic a bit; is there still a working steam clone for playing cracked games?

I agree, it should have been cheaper for me to buy; for an example: L4D off steam imo. WRONG!

Actually, I've always loved Steam. I *hate* the fact that I might lose access to my games (that I have PAID for! I have over $500 worth of games on Steam) but I loved being able to buy and download games instantly -- alongside the multiplayer aspect that is missing from Rip releases.
I don't dislike most game companies. I dislike most game publishers. There's a fucking difference.

why would you lose access to the games you had already paid ? I decided not to buy any more games from steam (not as long as its more expansive as retail) , but that doesn't mean i won't play the games i already own lol.
