If you've never played the franchise, and as such can ignore the fact that it's NOT Fallout 1 or 2, then YES get Fallout 3. The fucking game is ludicrously awesome and very, very long. Took me, a season RPGer, just shy of 75hrs to finish the entire game (side quests and all)

Gears of War 2, really funny in coop split screen.
Same for cod5, but gow2 is funnier and the screen isn't as small...
For solo, I would add Tomb Raider Underworld

Mass Effect was cool, also Fallout 3. I second both of these previous suggestions. Dead Space would be another.

theres loads go to ign look at reviews and look at what has scored 8-9 or more theres a pretty good chance any game u pick will be pretty good, it ttok me 50 hrs to 1000 point fallout 3, BUT its a waste of time really asking this kind of question as everyones tastes are different. but i havent met many ppl who dont like FO3 or GOW2
As for framerate, the 360 version runs smooth, while the PS3 is a jaggy mess that chugs along in slow motion.
