Yeah, I'm hoping for a good game... (Also let's hope it's a good port, but it's EA so at least that is almost assured).

Lord of the Rings: Conquest - Minimal system requirements
The minimal system requirements of the action game Lord of the Rings: Conquest have been published in the official forum.
Lord of the Rings: Conquest – Minimal system requirements revealed (picture: Pandemic Studios)
If the specifications are final, you don't need a really fast PC to play Lord of the Rings: Conquest. Below you can read the system requirements:
- CPU 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo
- RAM : 1 GiByte
- Graphics card: 256 MiByte VRAM, Pixel Shader 3.0
- 6 GByte Hard drive space
More interesting would be how the recommended requirements look though, but it seems like those specifications have not been decided on yet. Lord of the Rings: Conquest will be released on 9th January 2009 in Europe. It is still unclear if there will be a PC demo version.

Aren't there always PC... "demos," even if they come a few weeks after release?

the game is basically a battlefield game in LOTR theme , so it's mostly multiplayer oriented or singleplayer with bots

Why does that mater to some people? imo its completely inconsequential. The gameplay is importatant and as long as the voice acting is half way decent its fine by me

Console achievements, probably not a big thing as such but it does show some gameplay elements and reveal a bit about the game so still interesting but also contains spoilers.
Such as the playable characters, campaign missions for dark and light side and various mission objectives.
(Such as killing 300 hobbits <- Hope that's OK to show but I don't see it as a spoiler.)
EDIT: Latest videos.

(At the moment it's some trailer for the good/light campaign.)

the demo on PS3 was quite awful. A shame, i did like the Battlefront games, but this one blows.

As a minimum? laptop won't keep up with that. Time to get a new one.

FTW ^^ |
I bet I can build a desktop for the same price that blows that out of the water.

Some of us don't have the luxury of currently porting around a desktop.. you know traveling the world and all..but an XPS laptop is more than sufficient for gaming. I got the M1710 2 years ago and its a trooper up until now. Its played everything else without issue, but I won't upgrade the processor. I'm considering getting the new 1730 it has sli 8800GTXs in it.

Play the demo and change your mind. There are more than enough moves and the animations are actually quite good.

I watched some trailers and the announcer is annoying as fuck. Can you disable it?

Everywhere I look says Tuesday the 13th of January and EAs store is now showing the 16th so I guess we'll be waiting a few more days.

Could well be the 16th now because EAs store said the 13th yesterday and now says the 16th.
