Sorry if a repost
Link
I dunno much abou the HD player for it but wasn't it connected through USB which has a shitty transfer rate?
If it works then I say hell yes to it. There a store that has the HD-DVD one for 30 bucks that I plan on getting.

If there were any real truth behind this, wouldn't it be more info and buzz around it?
Ofcourse i can be wrong (lets hope i am ), but an article was posted not so long ago where MS denied a BD-player.. or maybe that was about an integrated BD-drive? Hm. |
http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/02/microsoft-hoses-down-latest-xbox-360-blu-ray-rumor/
this one? it's from april.
I dunno though, Sony owns blu-ray so wouldn't they have the right to deny an external one for 360 cause god knows if they do that, PS3 will take a further shit dive than it already has.

Microsoft most likely had to pay for the right to use it, which would please Sony no end -- their competitor paying to use THEIR technology? I'll bet the execs just loved that!

I wouldn't get too hyped, there is no official announcement.

That's not funny he's seriously concerned for you, you should appreciate it. Most people would have just called you immature, but they wouldn't show CONCERN towards your immaturity. (where am I going with this?)
I'm not sure if I like bluray. The PS3 was a blast for me to play for like...2 weeks. Finished MGS4 and played a lot of MLB 08, it's been gathering dust ever since. What's more important is cracking the player. An unhackable 900TB drive is worthless in peoples eyes nowadays.
Blame! don't act!

I'm immature for laughing at fanboys?
Oh grow up, mate. I'll laugh at whoever, whatever, I want - whenever I want - and that doesn't give you, nor anyone, the right to call me immature. If you don't like my comments, then click the fucking ignore button.

Robbie Bach, president of the Entertainment and Devices division at Microsoft, responding to a question asking when and if the Xbox 360 would adopt Blu-ray technology, said that there were "a lot of reasons" why the company has no plans to do so-chiefly, low consumer demand.
"It's not a feature we get a ton of requests for," Bach said. "When you ask people the list of things they want to see us spending time creating in Xbox, Blu-ray is way, way down on the list."

Now that prices of bluray players are dropping (~$200 now for a decent player, probably $150 by year end) there is no need to have it in a console. Shit, a bluray drive for HTPC is only ~$100-125.

It's a tad more expensive in the UK, a standalone player will cost you around £100ish .. but yeah man, you're bang on. BR drives are dropping in price all the time now.

Sorry, I keep doing that >_< I meant in the UK. I've not checked Netshop.no (and after seeing the price of PC components in local stores like Datakjeden, I'm VERY unhappy about them)

Only way ps3 is ahead of the 360 atm is in its media capabilities , I can stream hd to it , I can watch majority of popular formats without any need to fck around . Upscales well and I can watch blurays
Yet MS would rather you go out and buy a stand alone or better yet a ps3 because their venture into hd-dvd failed ?

I seriously can't be bothered arguing with you after such epic responses like this - http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=912560&highlight=#912560

If you don't think an htpc needs to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye then fair enough . just bang it in a tower
But seeing how one if not the most expensive parts of a htpc is its case then I think its pretty obvious the large majority of the market want a decent looking fucking box....
