I don't know if this was posted earlier (couldn't see it) but it sort of explains why EA is the suckiest publisher in the games industry...

Electronic Arts' games label boss Frank Gibeau has revealed that he's not let any solely single-player games pass through his gates, ensuring that absolutely every single title the company publishes has an online component.

"We are very proud of the way EA evolved with consumers," he said. "I have not green lit one game to be developed as a singleplayer experience. Today, all of our games include online applications and digital services that make them live 24/7/365.

Yeah, cause dead space 2 multiplayer 2 is great. It´s probably the worst mp in the history of gaming.

If the crowd funding systems (Kickstarter, WMD, ...) work well for developpement and Valve's Greenlight for distribution...
Soon EA will not publish a single game anymore Laughing

they are shifting towards their 'play for free' model on the PC. Where if you pay EA lots of money regularly you will have an advantage over all the rest of the non paying gamers in online multi-player games.
No longer will online gaming be a test of your skill or cunning against another gamer, but victory will go to those with the deepest pockets. The Tiberium Alliances strategy game is a prime example. All the top 200 players on the server I am playing on are all buying 'points' for real money in order to get an in-game 'boost'. (i would presume all the other servers are the same). What the fuck does EA care about equal battlefields s'long as the money keeps flowing and lining their pockets. This is just the start of things to come unfortunately. It's not just EA.

you don't understand the policy Sony and Microsoft has put on their consoles : Technical aid will be only given if a product has a online component

is not EA , its Console Producers dictating those terms ... EA wanted to only PR it their way and failed at it

Good, I have no interest in EA so who the fuck cares? All decent companies EA bought are now either crap or broken down.

PC: Yes. Console: No.
