No, ofcourse that shouldn't set off the alarm, tell your insurance company to fuck off.
The alarm you have is most likely the kind who only reacts when a door, or the hood opens when the car is still locked and the alarm is activated.

Most insurance companies disregard standard alarms toward your policy. Mainly because in today's day and age nobody gives a shit about noise coming from a alarm at 2 AM, it's just a annoyance rather than a theft deterrent.
The only Alarm's they incorporate into insurance policies are usually Lo-Jack type ones that track the vehicle. Your insurance company needs to eat a penis + your alarm system desperately needs a shock sensor.

Why are you claiming that? Snapping a car's registration plates can't be that expensive to fix. You still have to pay a deductable and your premium would go up.
