Hi all Smile
I've had problems using the full whack of my 2x2gigs of ddr2 mem in xp, like i have to use it when overclocking my rig @ ddr266 instead of the maximum setting of ddr6400 if you know what i mean?
But...
I'm about to install vista, so i'm wondering, if i install vista and overclock my computer, will i be able to use both my 2x2gigs of mem @ there max setting?
I.e
ddr6400, s that's what my mem is?

6400 is rated DDR2-800

Will make no diff regarding your OS really.. Overclocking your pc isnt going to stop you using both your memory sticks just because your doing it in vista instead of xp... All I sudgest is you make sure you install a sp1 upto date version of vista so you dont get the 4gb issues on installing the OS which were around for some back in the day..

p.s im running OcZ 4gb in two strips in vista 64 bit @400mhz cpu clock and its fine.. Of course normal thing applies make sure your aware of the default timings for your ram your using. And go from there.. But im guessing you know what your doing as you stated you do it anyway with your xp os/system.

DDR6400 = DDR2 @ 800mhz FSB (as moosenoodles said). there is still 1 thing i would like the add. DDR2 frequency is CPU related. last year when i bough my PC (the one using right now), i had to search a bit for the best CPU in order to use my DDR2 memory at 800mhz.
ex:
-AMD Ath 64 X2 5600+ allows DDR2 to work at 800mhz
-AMD Ath 64 X2 5200+ allows the RAM to work only at arround 720-730mhz (this one i got cos i couldn't find the other one at a suitable price)
and as far as i remember, Intel cpus have the same effect!

Lol, no, that's definitely not right. The memory controllers are separate from the CPU cores. FSB is actually deprecated but it's still used since most people know what it is. If you actually had your DDR2 800Mhz running in 720-730 you underclocked it. Hehe, what a strange thing to believe. Smile
