Seems to run @ 78-80mb/sec using current devices based on THIS.
I've heard it can xfer 1Gb of data in 3.3sec which is insane. Now its up to next-gen devices to largely catch up.
Comments? This is beyond important to me to wait for my next mobo to support this as I have a few USB2.0 devices and archival enclosures that use USB2.0 and they only max out @ 33mb/sec (half that when xfer between both USB2.0 devices). Actual hardware that will then support USB3.0 aren't expected until Q1 '10.

Current Broadband speed record: 329.1 Mb/sec down // 21.73 Mb/sec up

SATA3 is also coming but unsure @ same time as USB3 debuts on the first mobos this year. SATA3 is not as important as USB3 because AFAIK even SATA1's bandwidth isn't really saturated by even modern HDDs. I might be wrong there but certainly SATA2 is NOT fully utilized. However, the faster the pipe can go the better for it keeps giving H/W manufacturers an incentive to keep pushing SSDs. 2010 will be the year for such storage devices.

Gawd can this come out anytime sooner?!?!

When did I say that? Nice grammar on my part if true. Ack!
Regardless, the timing makes sense considering we're now @ 2Tb drives and we're xferring large quantities of data each week and its only getting higher. The more we can shove down the pipe the better. SATA3 is also coming but USB3 is far more important as devices can more readily use it whereas SATA2 isn't even yet saturated.
A new revolution in offline storage will commence once USB3 gets going.
