Rockstar Games is pleased to announce a partnership with Team Bondi Pty Ltd to publish the ground-breaking next generation crime thriller L.A. Noire. Developed by Team Bondi, a new Australian based studio founded by Brendan McNamara, of The Getaway, L.A Noire is an interactive detective story set in the classic noir period of the late 1940's.
L.A. Noire blends action, detection and complex storytelling and draws players into an open-ended challenge to solve a series of gruesome murders. Set in a perfectly recreated Los Angeles before freeways, with a post-war backdrop of corruption, drugs and jazz, L.A. Noire will truly blend cinema and gaming.
Publisher: Rockstar Games
Developer: Team Bondi
Platform: PC, PS3, XBOX 360
Release Date: TBA 2010
Rockstar’s L.A. Noire will be gracing the cover of the March issue of Game Informer, and inside will be a 10-page feature looking at the game’s recreation of 1947 Los Angeles.
This is proof of comments made by Rockstar last month, that the game would get a big reveal in February.
According to Game Informer, the feature piece also delves into the facial-animation for the game, which GI says may “change the way we look at games from now on”.
+ = blend of action, detection and storytelling - i like games that try to do a little more than just be run n' gun - that try to create atmosphere and an interesting experience
- = its rockstar and im really weary of them now to be honest. also when someone sounds really good - as this game does to me - more often than not i end up being dissapointed when it doesnt deliver at the levels im hoping for and that its hype promises.
i mean the idea of having an open ended scenario for solving challenges in a world that feels real, as opposed to most games that create a world that does nothing more than exist for the sake of the story, is something ive hoped for for a long time... my expectations are going to be pretty high and i hope it delivers.
but consider me interested, though not excited yet.. it is rockstar afterall along with a brand new unproven dev team, AND its a console game, so 'dumbification' is quite a possibility...
when this became multi platform it became shit ... it should have stayed as a PS3 exclusive , guess M$ bought them again and Rockstar will make another DLCs exclusive to XBox360
@Nopiracy
XBox360 is in talks , PC not ... why ? they want to maximize the profit , DLC of GTA4 sold like hot cakes, too much budget was put in it

I read that initial development was shit to begin with and Sony washed their hands of it. Rockstar picked it up and the PS3 got another exclusive in exchange. Nothing to do with Microsoft. Didn't know it was from the creator of the Getaway series though. Funny he now sort of works for Rockstar...
It's definitely on the PS3 and now 360, but not heard anything about PC (which is par for the course).

That's true.Game was a ps3 exclusive but now a x360 release is confirmed. This means 99% multiplatform with pc confirmation in few weeks.
It would be nice to be a cop instead of a bad guy for a change in these sandbox style games. Not many games have done that except for Crackdown and a few others..Sure would be nice to see a modern Police quest game. This may be good.
L.A. Noire, Rockstar's police action-adventure game, is no longer a Playstation 3 exclusive, opening up the possibility of an eventual PC port:
You play as Cole Phelps, a beat cop looking to clean up the streets of L.A. It won't be easy, seeing as how the L.A. police force is mired in corruption from top to bottom. Phelps has his own issues to deal with, including some very bad things he did in World War II. Though he starts low on the totem pole, over the course of L.A. Noire Phelps progresses through a series of "desks" in the department, including traffic, vice and, ultimately, homicide.
As a detective, you have to solve cases through a mixture of investigations, interviews and interrogations. According to the article in GI, when you come across a scene, you won't find highlighted items sitting in obvious places. Crime scenes are said to look natural and require a deft eye to spot important clues. See a pair of glasses on the ground of a supposed murder scene and you can pick them up, noting details such as the brand etched on the inside of the frame. These little bits of information are jotted down on your notepad, which can be brought up at any time.
Things get a little more interesting in regards to the interview system. Team Bondi is using revolutionary technology that could change the way games are made. The new facial motion capturing system sets actors alone in a giant room with cameras all around. In full make-up, the actor delivers their dialogue. Every facial moment is recorded, from the most exaggerate of motions to the slightest twitch of an eye. The dialogue is recorded at this time as well, creating a seamless scene. All of this is then translated into a 3D game landscape with no animators needed. The result? According to GI, it's a picture-perfect rendering of the actor's scene.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
