I like the acting of Mary McDonnel pertaining Laura. It is the character that pisses me - it is so real. Also I liked how BSG showed the transformation of school teacher, willing to risk everything in order to save even a few souls, to a religious fanatic, tyrant willing to sacrifice everything in order to reach their goal.
The only other character that also pissed me off was Helena Cain. During one particular episode I even resorted to alcohol to ease the stress level Guess, I am not the army person
Also somewhat curious fact... Previously I stopped watching at the middle of first season due to the lack of time. This time I had a BSG marathon, watched "non-stop" pilot movie, seasons 1 - 3 , web episodes, razor movie and the 10 episodes of season 4. The seasons progressed from being materialistic -> philosophical -> religious -> psychedelic. Some episodes of season 3 & 4 are like the writers were dropping acid on regular basis

I think they started dropping i about the time when they came up with the idea that artificial lifeforms would actually create incredibly unreliable biological systems to not only govern them but control their ships. I mean the whole concept of the 'Hybrids' is bullshit, along with the inconsistently detectable 'skin job' Cylons.
For the whole series they've been unable to determine who is a Cylon and who isn't. Then suddenly in first episode of the new season they know straight away that the population of earth were all Cylons. I hate it when the rules change to serve plot contrivances.

I think I stopped watching near the end of the second season, and decided to hold the show off until I could watch it completely without delays... did the show improve or get worse from there on?
In my opinion, it improved. But it depends on what you define as interesting. If all you seek is space battles, then there is only one big battle in S3. If what you like the most is the story, then S3 and S4 have much better story and character development than S1 and S2.
Sounds great, I always find the story plus the character interactions and resulting conflicts much more interesting than simple action scenes - essentially they're just extensions to those conflicts, after all.
Looks like I can start from the beginning right now, the series finale isn't that far off anymore.

Speaking of Tigh, when Adama was shot in S1 and sick in S2, the martial law episode was fantastic, he just lost control of everything and fucked up everything. The moment when he announces the martial law, exits the press room and drinks, together with the fantastic music (involving the Tigh theme in a military variation), was one of the best moments of the show to date for me.

Yep, great moment indeed! I like Tigh because is a rough military "sarge" type. He has got a big, foul mouth. The actor is excellent for his role.
Hehe I've watched the first 9 eps now, and I had forgotten what a complete dork Gaius was. The stupid faces he makes when someone awakes him from the number six daydreams always crack me up.
There was an episode in the first season, Baltar was on Colonial One and he was having a sex dream with Six and he was awoken and was supposed to give a speech or something. And I was how awkward this might be for him to stand and lecture...

Katee Sackoff (Starbuck) is probably the worst next to Roslin. Bad actress...horrible actress. She should stick to romantic comedies. She's ok in those. Sci Fi doesn't fit her at all.
I actually think Starbuck is pretty fit in a weird sort of way, not the actress but the character.
But when number 6 is done up properly (platinum blond, red dress, like the picture above) she's stunning!
