Hi all,
Got some problems with Burnout Paradise, it starts fine and stuff, can also roam around the city. But when I finish a race the game stops and vista gives me the error bla bla.
This also occurs when I press 'Escape' during gameplay.
Very strange, I've tried 3 different Catalyst versions,
9.1, 8.12 and some old standard one.
Maybe it's cuz i'm playing on a laptop?
Toshiba A-300 with a Radeon Mobile HD 3650.
Here's the error Vista gives me:

Well I really don't understand this shit, also tried all settings from low to high, with stereo sound or 5.1, but there was absolutely no difference.
Ow and the "news" pages aren't displayed when I start up, I can see the web page in Internet Explorer, but when I click a news item i get "The news is currently unavailable".
Hopefully someone knows a solution for this!
Never had this with another game BTW, like Fallout, Mirror's Edge, GTA4

If you are using Windows Vista, try playing the game in compatibility mode for XP SP2

this is was released before it was even finished. Starting two days ago you should now have a beta showing for the 'Online Features' of the game. Clicking on any of the topics results in news unavailable still to this day (better than we are working on it message and thats all, I guess?). I've seen a couple people now say the samething you are experiencing and they had also not been running the game at 60Hz refresh. This seemed to cause issues unless it was set to 60Hz which mine is locked at and gives you a headache after 30 mins of play (wouldn't be an issue if I had a LCD). Its not your pc specs, this game is rated for a 2.8GHz p4, 1gb ram (1.5 vista) 2gb recommended, dx 9 vc w/ SM3.0, and a beast of a video card at a massive 128mb or more (I was shocked when I saw this, talk about low end specs), nVidia 6600+ / Radeon x1300+. I'd wait for the 1.0.0.6 patch I believe it is they promised to release soon. This should give us the support we are after.

Ok I'll wait for the new patch, my laptop screen is 60hz indeed.
I tried the compatibility thing, it also bugs out, but without the error message, just hangs and I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL my way out.
Thanks for the reply's!

Well it's fixed, apparently my sound driver was fucking everything up...
Connexant Smartaudio 221. I uninstalled the thing and let windows install it's drivers, works like a dream now, strange how this messed with the game. Also had issues with CS:S, also solved by this.
Thx for advice people
