DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc studio, today announced the development of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the sequel to last year’s blockbuster title. In this instalment, the Bad Company crew again find themselves in the heart of the action, where they must use every weapon and vehicle at their disposal to survive. The action unfolds with unprecedented intensity, introducing a level of fervor to vehicular warfare never before experienced in a modern warfare action game. To get ready for the assault this winter, players can prepare for action in Battlefield 1943, an all-new multiplayer game available this summer via PlayStation Store, Xbox LIVE Marketplace and on the PC.

In Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the ‘B’ company fight their way through snowy mountaintops, dense jungles and dusty villages. With a heavy arsenal of deadly weapons and a slew of vehicles to aid them, the crew set off on their mission and they are ready to blow up, shoot down, blast through, wipe out and utterly destroy anything that gets in their way. Total destruction is the name of the game, delivered as only the DICE next generation Frostbite engine can. Either online or offline, enemies will soon learn there is nowhere to hide. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be available for the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system, the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and the PC.

Using the same Frostbite engine, Battlefield 1943 takes players back to WWII. The game offers endless hours of 24 player multiplayer action over three classic and tropic locations; Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. Delivering the award-winning through-the-gun and vehicle warfare online experience DICE is best recognized for, Battlefield 1943 will have players battling in ruthless aerial dog fights and intense trench combat. Players can see the game in action at New York Comic Con (Booth #1441) from February 6th-8th.

“Bad Company 2 takes everything that players liked in the original and ups the ante – more vehicles, more destruction and more team play,” said Karl Magnus Troedsson, Executive Producer Battlefield Franchise, DICE. “Battlefield 1943 is a new take on a blast from the past classic coming to life with brand new technology that we’re eager to get into players hands.”

For PC!? Shocked That's great! So 1943 is just a small taste? And how are they going to distribute it for PC? Maybe through the G4WL new marketplace, but that would suck...

You mean how will they distribute 1943? Dunno about GFWL Marketplace, but EA has their own digital download service, and also distribute their games through Direct2Drive and Steam. I'll pick it up on Steam, if it's available there.

BC2, on the other hand, will surely see retail release, in addition to digital distribution.

Yes, I meant 1943. But will they use Securom for protection? Will they only make use of the serial for installation purposes, and allow free online play (ala Burnout Paradise)? These are interesting questions. Very Happy

Pirates don't deserve online play.

By the way, EA is, quite obviously, collecting IPs of people who are playing online without legit keys. Not to say that they'll act on that, but make no mistake, they know. They could, in completely realistic theory, subpoena your ISP and have your ass in court at the drop of a hat. Have fun with that, all!

Israel is party to the Berne Convention, so yes, anyone from any of the other 163 nations party to that agreement whose copyright you violate, could prosecute you.

Okay, you're just trying to be a smartass now (and failing).

PC gamers brag about being pirates, and then wonder why publishers don't want to support the platform these days...oy.

FBI doesn't investigate small-time pirates, silly.

So wait..us being, in your estimation, "ignorant" is enough reason for you to act like a self-important muppet?

Good god man, if that was the only reason I needed - there wouldn't be anyone left alive who hasn't felt my scathing tongue. You may not agree with what others have to say, but ffs.. keep it to yourself.

That's not what this is about. You guys are denying facts, which is stupid. That's all I've been pointing out.

A bit offtopic; I think I see EAs new business policy.
Take all the studios that make profit (dice, maxis, bioware, ...?),
force them to mass produce games and addons,
shut down everything else.

Makes me wonder about quality...

The first beta ended and the game went back under the knife for a while for some considerable tinkering, and will re-enter beta soon. EA has the public release slated for this fiscal year, meaning it should be out before April.

If this game has a great multiplayer which surpasses BF2 (which is doubtful since it's a multiplatform game) then it will sell well. Multiplayer games never had big problems with piracy on PC, it's single player only games that usually are affected the most.
