Description:
"Xenoblade Chronicles, known in Japan as Xenoblade (ゼノブレイド Zenobureido?), is a role-playing video game published by Nintendo and developed by Monolith Soft for the Wii console. The game was announced during E3 2009, when a trailer was released to media. The trailer shows a futuristic sword-wielding character battling giant robots and creatures as well as third-person exploration gameplay. In January 2010, the game was renamed from Monado: Beginning of the World to Xenoblade to honor Tetsuya Takahashi, "who poured his soul into making this and who has been working on the Xeno series". The game was released on June 10, 2010 in Japan, and is set to be released on August 19, 2011 in Europe and on September 1, 2011 in Australia. There are currently no plans for a North American release."

Reviews

gamestm - 9/10
"There are passive skills to learn, link and share, battle arts to level up, stat-boosting gems to craft, collection logs to fill, hundreds of errands to run, an entire settlement to rebuild and relationships to be forged with not just allies but any named character in the world. In summary then, there’s a staggering amount to do whenever the story offers a little downtime, as it so frequently does. Enjoying the story at your own pace is actively encouraged here, a welcome change for the genre and one that couldn’t be further from Square Enix’s approach with FFXIII."

Famitsu - 36/40 (9/9/9/9)
“The massive field to explore, plus the sheer number of side quests, is enough to make you forget about the main story. The battles are also excellent, requiring you to constantly think about your position against the enemy’s.”

game reactor - 9/10
"Is the best JRPG of the generation? If we abstract visual woes, no doubt.
A game system that encourages exploration, many side quests, a gigantic world to us and, above all, a fascinating story. If you are one of those who like to squeeze the last drop out of a game, it will take at least 100 hours of your life an be one of the last jewels that you see on the Wii.

This game is hailed by masses to be easily the best JRPG of this generation and also the best on a Nintendo console since Chrono Trigger.
I havent been hyped about a game like this for atleast half a decade, and its almost out now (hoping for a leak any second now Laughing )

BTW here are some trailers:

Aye, I've been waiting for this for a long-ass time.. and it almost never came to pass either. I feel sorry for NA though ... Nintendo have repeatedly stated, against MUCH fan outcries, that they won't be bringing it - or the other two Wii mega-RPGs; Pandora's Tower and The Last Story - to America. These three games are JP/EU/AU only.

Sucks to be American, I guess. FORCED into modding your Wii and paying EU monies (lololololol...) in order to play the games. Still, 6 more days! ^_^ I think I'll grab the JP release and see how it runs on Dolphin, since I won't have my Wii for much longer.

I kinda feel like back in the old times when I was waiting for FF7 to come out in my teens, (later FF8, 9 etc.) and imagining the fun I will be having diving into another new world.
In other words, I am giggling like a schoolgirl.

I envy you, my friend Sad I miss those days so much. I'm getting painfully hyped for DX3 and Dead Island, but I don't think anything will ever compare to the excitement and hype of waiting for FFVI and FFVIII... *sigh* I don't know whether that's just getting older, or being more disillusioned with gaming these days.

Sadly my PC isn't up to the task :/ Not completely at least. I get around 75-90% performance on Xenoblade, with peaks and troughs. If/when I eventually switch this old E7200 out for something with more teeth, I should get better performance.

Yeah that E7200 is a bit long in the tooth. I'm not sure how well Dolphin threads, but could you throw a Q6600 in there and overclock it?

A Q6600 will struggle to reach the same OC speeds my 72 is running at - and in games that only use dual core (like Dolphin) it will offer zero performance benefits. No, a 66 is definitely off the agenda. When I finally scrounge the cash I need; i5-25k.

No problem with my i7 920, but I prefer to play it on the wii since I have it here anyway,
too scared of random glitches on emus, they always pull me out of a game completely.

I just can't resist the ability to play games at a higher resolution than the Wii itself could render at, pretty much locked at 60fps. And savestates.

I love the accuracy of native hardware, but yeah... I'm with tskiller on this; emulators (when they work!) improve games immensely.

Having not touched my Wii in a long ass time (inb4 sexual joke), I seem to recall that some PAL games work on NTSC and some don't?

Like, some PAL games just run fine, and others will get a black and white fuzzy screen... is this still the case or is there a way to run all games from other regions via whatever?

Of course I'm talking about the hardware and not emulation. ;p Suppose I could give Dolphin a shot though...

With a softmodded Wii and hence all the new loaders and cIOS revisions at your disposal, pretty much everything works on everything (although I dont quite get what masturbation has to do with PAL games not working on NTSC Cool Face).
