I connected my xbox360 to my syncmaster 2220 wm lcd monitor using the AV VGA cable. first of all I get small white noise its barely visible but still annoying, second in the xbox display options when I put resolution on 1920 by 1080 the picture gets out of focus and streched only on the 1024 by 768 I can change between widescreen and normal screen. how can I play in HD quality??

thank you

maximum resolution supported by your monitor is 1680 x1050
noise could be caused by bad cable or cable didn't fit very well
do u have NXE installed?

try the native res of your monitor 1680X1050.

you need the NXE update to have this res.

EDIT: beat to the punch

you can download the update as long as you're not banned from live. actually I think you can even download it and install by USB key if you're banned.

and 90% of the people here are playing backups Wink

ok I just installed the update and there are more options for res, how ever whenever I put on 1680 by 1050 I can't change the screen format and it is cut on the top and bottom corners. basically any res higher then 1024 by 768 I cant change between wide screen and normal screen.

well because 1680x1050 can only be widescreen, did u by any chance pressed that button on your monitor that should be called autoset or something like that, u know to adjust screen automatically?

I just select that and that's it, nice picture with 1/2 inch black bars at the top and bottom to letterbox the 16:9 picture. Do you have an actual x360 branded vga cord? they are pretty cheap from ebay, I got mine for like $5 + another $5 for "processing" with local pickup.

I have a sammy 225bw and whenever I hit that by accident it does nothing Razz

well if it's digital<->dvi it won't do anything {should say NO ACCESS}, if it's analogue<->vga it will auto adjust
if it doesn't do anything then your monitor is briked or there is nothing there to adjust

it does the 0-100% bar, but it only shifts barely slightly.

and hey, I mentioned it here before but I swapped a 19" 5:4 for this 22" 16:10 for free, so I could really give a fuck if it doesn't work quite correctly Razz

actually the backlight bleeding seems to be getting worse and there are a few spots where someone jabbed their fingers into it too hard (it was from an auction company from a woodworking shop) .. but hey, beggars can't be choosers Razz

1/2 inch black bars at the top and bottom is exactly what I have, and yeah it did auto adjusted but nonetheless I have these stupid black bars. the change in quality between 1024 by 768 and 1680 by 1050 is so insignificant that its just not worth it, especially when you play a game that is already is wide screen.

well i did tried it couple of times, mostly played it with vga cable from m$ and was able to run at my native resolution
one monitor 19" second 22", both lg's
hdmi to dvi is alot sharper tho, so if your 360 has hdmi output try that instead of vga

usually i like to sit back and plug it in to my 32" samsung through hdmi, i really hate vga quality on 360 it's so freakin blury and u all jagged

they are supposed to be there. x360 games are in 16:9 aspect ratio, same as HDTV. Sammy is in 16:10, so instead of stretching the image it adds the blackbars. The same as when you watched a widescreen movie on an old shitty 4:3 tv that nobody owns any more Wink

no I don't have an HDMI output Sad . man I cant believe 1024 by 728 is the best quality I can get. do you think the quality will be batter if I'll get one of these YPbPr to RGBHV VGA Box and connect the original xbox cable that has these red blue green wires??

HD = HDMI
HD resolution = 16:9 aspect ratio
xbox actual resolution = 1280x720 (anything more is just upscaled)

but honestly, I use a vga cord on my 22" sammy and it looks perfectly fine... almost as good as my 40" sammy hdtv using hdmi

doesn't this cable has an HD capability? so if I'll cannect it to YPbPr to RGBHV VGA Box shouldn't I be able to see a nice quality on the monitor?? as for HDMI, it is the best quality but you need a good built in speakers in your monitor. my monitor speakers are worst then a speaker that I have in my cellphone. x360 is meant to be hooked up to an HDTV and a decent stereo system. maybe you're used to sitting in front of your monitor using actual a resolution outputted from a PC game?

but yes, there is no reason the vga cable can't give an amazing picture, after all, i use 2 different displays depending on what room I'm using my xbox in.
