I just installed Vista on my dads computer who was using XP before, but since he had to resort to dodgy third party programs to get several clocks so he can tell when family members are awake I decided to install Vista for him as it has things like that built in (Sidebar) but for some reason the sound drivers won't work, they install, Vista says they are working but theres no sound (yes the speakers are plugged in), his motherboard is ASUS M2NPV-VM with Soundmax ADI AD1986A 5.1-Channel CODEC, apparently supports Jack Sensing technology but that ain't doing squat atm, thanks in advance for help
EDIT: Sorry, human error, first I tried plugging the front/top ports of the case (Thermaltake did them badly so I never bothered, the USB is 1 row as opposed to onboard its 2 so got frustrated and didn't want to sacrifice USB things and never use Firewire), tried some extra speakers on it and it worked, then tried the back, thought it was the monitor speakers, then it clicked, I turned the audio down to 0 so when I turn it off the shutdown music doesn't wake anyone up as it was midnight, heh.
