Atelier Lydie & Soeur: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting will depict the ordinary, everyday lives of twin sisters Lydie and Soeur, as well as take players on an adventure through the fantastic and mysterious worlds of paintings. As is appropriate for the Mysterious sub-series, Atelier Lydie & Soeur will maximize the appeal of the Atelier series not found in other RPGs.
Atelier Lydie & Soeur is based on the concept of coexistence between the ordinary and the extraordinary, and utilizes a feature known as the “ordinary system” while interweaving extraordinary experiences within it.
In order to implement this, the theme of “paintings” was decided.
Gust's latest entry serves as the finale of the Mysterious trilogy following Atelier Sophie and Atelier Firis. The story follows twin girls named Lydie and Suelle living in a small atelier shop in Melveille, the capital of the Kingdom of Adallet.
While dealing with the fact their atelier is underperforming, they discover mysterious paintings in their basement that allow them to explore new worlds and gather unique materials. Maybe they can save their little shop after all.
Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings is coming to North America and Europe for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam in early 2018, publisher Koei Tecmo announced.
In Japan, the game is due out this winter for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PS Vita.
We're really happy to announce that the colourful and artistic “Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings” - will be released on 30th March 2018 for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®4, and Windows PC via Steam®.
During a recent press event hosted by Koei Tecmo America, representatives of the publisher confirmed to DualShockers that the western release of the game will not include English voice-overs. This was also confirmed afterward by a representative of Koei Tecmo Europe.
The audio will be exclusively in Japanese paired with subtitles. This is a relevant change from previous Atelier games that were dubbed in English.

Ehm yeah i doubt any of their niche fanbase ever gave a crap about english dubs in those games so it was just a waste of money anyway.
Yeah Koei had English and Japanese voice acting for Atelier Sophie and Atelier Firis but the yearly release schedule for GUST (In addition to Nights of Azure, Blue Reflection and perhaps more.) and a lower budget well I haven't played those game with the English dub myself (A quick Youtube video would probably suffice though.) but I doubt it's all that great, voice acting costs and good actors probably cost much more.
That and years of badly dubbed and poorly translated content in general ha ha.
At least some studios try to spice up the script whereas others well Google translate quality almost.
Quality of their ports seem to have gone up a bit at least, some bugs in Blue Reflection and Nights of Azure 2 but that's also true on console further hinting a problematic or rushed development cycle I suppose.
Sophie wasn't too bad but a bit basic, Firis well it still has some broken effects compared to the Playstation build but they also patched and fixed many of the reported initial problems such as low-res artwork and issues with the game crashing so it could have been worse and just been ignored entirely after it's initial release.
So part 3 of the "Mysterious" trilogy (In the really long running Atelier saga, 20 games now?) and the bomb making little terrorist girl under the guise of alchemy.
And all the quirky companions you'll encounter and post-game hell with bonus dungeons, bonus bosses and bonus DLC dungeons and bosses and companions of which I think there's probably a small swarm of these now for this game ha ha.
