Just wondering, were both of them v1 xbox'es. Because v2 and v3 has very small fail rate compared to v1.

I've 2. My unflashed 2006 build doesn't read DVD's all that well anymore but thats a natural thing for anything that gets used a lot.
My release (Dec 2005) console has red lighted twice in 3 years which isn't too bad considering it is a v1 console.
tbh, and not from a fanboy perspective, but MS have done a fairly good job at handling the problem. I ditched my PS3 as I got the dreaded problem with the reader not liking blueray discs, happened twice and now out of warranty(12 months) therefore ditched it.

I have a X360 manufacuted in summer 2006 and never had any issues and don't know anyone who had a RROD. I think that most people don't have any issues at all and some have a bad console that fails several times in a row. bushwacka X360 shows up in the statistics as seven fails, but it's only one console. This leads tohigh fail numbers although only few people have issues. Just a theory though.

My first 360 RROD after i gave it to my step son. But in all honesty, once MS announced the 3 year warranty, i told him to try and kill it.
My Elite, which is an original Elite is starting to fail. I lose video signal, then it comes back, then its gone, its very erratic. Sometimes it does it twice right when i turn it on, and other times it wont do it for an hour.
