Placeholder thread for now. There seems to be a Razor1911 release that should work for now. I have not yet tested it, unfortunately, but will soon. As usual, I will keep this thread updated with patches as they come along.
Special thanks in advance go to JBeckman and Epsilon for (hopefully) providing the updates and perhaps language packs!

Guys, I think I have found the solution -
When installing the razor release, when it gets to DVD 2 and it asks for the file disk2_0.sid agree with it and point it in the files direction which is on the DVD.
It then asks for file disk2_1.sid. Again, agree with it and point it in that files location.
Then, after a while, it pops up again asking for disk2_1.sid again. I think it's missing out disk2_2.sid so what I did, rather than point it at disk2_1.sid again, i selected "all files" and pointed it at disk2_2.sid rather than what it wanted.
It carried on installing and then asked for disk2_1.sid again. Yet again, I pointed it disk2_2.sid and it carried on installing again. The installer then quit.
I then loaded it up and selected the road to independance campaign - Voila - i'm now on chapter 3 with NO crashes or freezes. Everything appears to be working fine - at least for me. Try it.

Can you just "uninstall" it by deleting the folder? What about the reg keys?

JudgeUK, does that also fix the sound problems as well or are they still present?

I tried to unpack the files by hand (w/ the use of SimPack that is included) but it keep telling me that it can't find a file named GcfFiles.dat. I tried a file from another unpacker (for Fear2) but it didn't work. Any clues guys?
(if I can make it to work, that would guarantee no missing files!)

I get the "SCRIPT: I can not find file 'GcfFiles.dat'" error as well.
Although SimPack x -g10501 -k6143EE9F1CFDF68B0C2A34DB27A0CD6C seems to work. Will try it manually later as its 3am :\
Edit:
Mounted DVD1, ran the command "SimPack x -g10501 -k6143EE9F1CFDF68B0C2A34DB27A0CD6C "i:\Empire Total War_disk1.sim" d:\Empire", mounted DVD2 when prompted, then copied over crack.
Game folder is 14.4 GB (15,484,858,368 bytes) 825 Files, 75 Folders
Only played for about 30 mins. No sound from guns, but no crashing. Just have to wait on the patch I guess to fix the myriad of bugs.

Yeah same thing here. The thing is that some files have different size than from retail.

From what I've read Steam updated several files for the game from the preload data so it's a bit different from these unpatched files, someone even suggested that the total updated data of all files were around 1.5 GB so several bigger archives must have been updated.

Well, couldn't a CF Toolbox update be made to bring our installation to the current one ?

The files are different from the razor release to retail?
Maybe who owns the retail could upload the file sound X.pack to some place (so, these maybe can be a "proper" fix)
But then we will be need another fix to the crash in the road to indepence, so something like a fix for the fix
But i am sure about the razor installer is the problem like it says the fellow up here in no time touch the installation file disk2_2.sid
I think these release, should be nuked ? Because:
a) bad installer
b) the package files, not the same as retail?

Someone one will eventually upload his own files to the usual places and we'll use that. Patience.

and that alone worked?
because the installer does 4 commands
SimPack.exe x -g10501 -k6143EE9F1CFDF68B0C2A34DB27A0CD6C
SimPack.exe x -g10502 -k71C5FB913C50FD952C1DA96E864A66DF
SimPack.exe x -g10503 -k7EE90DE0D74AAFE400727B6C090FB2FC
SimPack.exe x -g10504 -k287B940DC26A6357B5460A9305D2733E
resulting a total of 14.7 GB, 948 Files, 76 Folders

GCFFILES.DAT is not needed IFAIK. SimPack just won't give you an error when extracting with it. |

i doubt that this release will work with the updates files. it so weird.
first, the release has no exe. second, razor crack is 254MB, 23 files, adds the exe, replaces A LOT of the game files + it adds extra tga files of its own (??)

I meant upload the entire directory, like with FEAR2 or DoW2.
ManMountain wrote: | I noticed that if you try extracting with this command (using older SimPack):
oldSimPack.exe x -g10501 -k6143EE9F1CFDF68B0C2A34DB27A0CD6C "i:\Empire Total War_disk1.sim" d:\Empire -n1
Results in only 819 of 962 being extracted. |
This happened with DoW2, and it was because it only extracted the English files of the game.

Following JudgeUK's method, my ETW folder is 14.8 GB, 954 files and 77 folders (includes the cracked stuff from the DVD's Razor1911 folder). Same as after the normal installation.
There might be a problem in the cracked .exe as well. A bad .exe can cause all kinds of weird issues in-game.

According to a comment made on rlslog (gamesfromtorrentsru) you do not need to copy all the files in the razor 1911 directory on disc 1, as most of them seem to be corrupted.
All you need to do is reinstall, and only copy the following files from the crack directory:
Empire.exe boot.pack patch.pack patch_en.pack and the config folder.
I did this and now i am able to play the road to independence campaign fine.

You still need to download a sound pack somewhere else, also even though I am able to play the rti campaign I am now stuck, I need to capture Montreal and Quebec from the french but the territories they are in aren't revealed on the map so i am unable to reach them =/

How to be able to play RTI campaign (found by myself)
1. Make a folder you want etw be installed to (if you havent already installed)
2. Copy cracked content into hat empty folder (if already installed and have already, skip, or re-copy, whatever, aslong as the cracked files have been moved at least once lol)
3. Install into that folder. When asked to point to sid files, do as asked for dvd1, for dvd2 , point to _0,_1,_2,_2 in that order.
4. replace the sounds_sfx.pack with the demo3_pack from demo (rename it to sounds_sfx.pack, backup original if you want)
5. play !

1. Copy all files from etw1 and etw2 to x:\Users\Your User Name\Appdata\Local\Temp
2. Start the installation from the temp directory with setup.exe.
3. After installation finishes copy/paste from razor1911 folder located in the temp the boot.pack, patch.pack, patch_en.pack and the empire.exe (only this 4 files) to x:/program files/empire total war (empire.exe) and to /data (boot,patch,patch_en.pack).
4. Replace the original sounds_sfx.pack with the retail sound-fix provided by Belsameth. (You can find it searching TPB)
5. Play.
I tested this method myself no crashing and no sounds issues in RTI campaign for 2 hours playing.

yeah thats what i figured, i checked the files from razor dir, and i was wondering why they put .lua files there (thats the files which fuck up). I mean those are simple "ini" files the game loads in order to determinate units, cities etc in the campaign map. (strength, price blabla).
anyway, even with original patch.pack,patch_eng.pack etc game runs fine (as far as i can tell so far, played at least 2 hours of RTI campaign.)

update :
you also have to copy (at least)
Razor1911\data\campaigns\
all folders EXCEPT episodic_1 (otherwise you'll be stuck in episode 2 when you have to capture quebec and montreal , because map wont open up)
